Slightly moving, I notice that the idiot actually didn’t restrain my legs, which was dumb on his part. To not get his attention, I don’t lift my head that already feels like an elephant is sitting on it. Instead, I wiggle my wrist together to get a feel of what he restrained me with.
Seriously, fucking duct tape?!
The issue with having a relationship with your kidnapper prior is they know your weaknesses. See, when he and I were together he handcuffed me to the bed one night. Little did he know I have a special talent to get out of handcuffs so by the next morning, he woke up handcuffed to the bed and naked. I kissed his cheek to wake him up and then left him there. I am not sure who let him out. At the time, I assumed it was one of his roommates, but I was wrong about that one. He had butchered them either while I was there or before our first date. The agent wasn’t specific.
I time my attempts to rip the tape off with the rough country road we seem to be on, so in case I grunt he thinks it’s because I bounced and hit a bruise. It takes me a while, but I eventually get it off. Now, I have to figure out how the hell to get out of here without crashing this vehicle and killing both of us. Although that doesn’t sound like a bad plan right now.
He slows down a bit since the road is getting super rocky. I would say maybe 35 or less but it’s now or never. I quietly use the door handle to pull my body to a sitting position. With a deep breath, I open the door and throw myself onto the gravel.
Fuck that hurt!
Get up Alley and fucking run!!
I hear the squealing of the brakes grinding to bring the SUV to a swerving halt. I push myself off the ground and with newfound adrenaline I run for the tree line. I may be only 5’1” and 186 pounds of fluffiness but when motivated I can run like the roadrunner.
“Little Devil, for your sake, I suggest you get your ass back here,” Sebastian yells, but I am creating enough distance between us that it’s faint. I wish I could say that’s a relief, but the loud slamming of the car door tells me it’s not going to be that way for long.
I stop dead in my tracks, right before I hit the tree line, and spin around. I know that this is beyond dumb and he will more than likely catch me considering we are maybe less than a football field away. Plus, the man is 6’6” and was an all-star track champion. I’ve seen the trophies.
But my intrusive thoughts plus impulsivity win this round. Letting my evil grin spread, I blow him a kiss. Before my palm goes flat to send it to him, my middle finger darts and spins in circles. Then I bolt into the trees.
“Oh, you better fucking run, Alessandra,” Sebs yells as I push further into the forest. The use of my full first name makes my fear go through the roof.
I start to slow down to catch my breath as soon as I feel that I am at a safe distance. Plus, I need to make sure he doesn’t hear me trying to gulp down all the oxygen in the area. When I hear a crunch of a leaf, I dive into a bush and quiet myself by covering my mouth with both hands. Yep, a million and one percent horror movie style.
He’s going to catch us!
You’re heaving like a dying cat!
Unless you want me to give myself a lobotomy, I suggest you both shut the fuck up.
Rude!
Straining my ears, I try to listen for more movement, but nothing. My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest and soon the only sound I hear is the blood rushing in my ears. Luckily, I don’t need to hear because he passes the bush. His relaxed stride along with the evil smirk on his face has my whole body turning to stone and I stop breathing.
Please don’t find us! Please don’t find us!!
Sebastian stops to look around and then keeps trudging forward. I keep my eyes on the direction he went as I crawl out of the bush. Still there is no move to head back towards me. I turn towards the direction we came, when a loud crack fills the air. I jump behind a tree stumbling a bit.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are my Little Devil,” Sebs sings. The crazy bastard sounds like he should be in a rendition of Scream. I mean he is a serial killer for fucks sake.
“Come on gorgeous, we don’t have time for this.” His voice wraps around me like a noose being tied around my neck. He couldn’t be more than five feet or so away. Tears start to fill my eyes as the fear takes hold. I hang my head in defeat as his boots crunch the decaying leaves on his way to my position.
Staring at the forest floor, as I catch a glimpse of the branch I tripped on. It’s been here for a while based on the fraying and lifting on the bark. The base is splintered but still thick enough to not break on impact then tapers down into a gnarly looking horror-esque tip. Sliding down the trunk, I lightly pluck it from the dirt. I bring it to my chest, still crouching, taking in a few more deep breaths. I watch him pass me and that is when I attack.
Kicking out the back of his knee, the walking red flag loses his balance. He goes crashing to the ground, landing both knees on an exposed tree root. Sebastian lets out a pained grunt, spurring me to dart to his side and swing the branch like a baseball bat aiming at his head. He tries to move to avoid it, but the top of the branch whacks his lower jaw, nicking the skin just below his ear.
Shit!
Run!
Sebastian
Getting to my feet, I watch her discard the branch and take off again. I push my legs to run faster even with my knees screaming in pain.
Sneaky little bitch.
I was about to turn around, hoping to see her cowering in fear but she got the jump on me landing that cheap shot. At least it was my knees and not my groin this time. Then to add insult to injury, the fucking branch cut me. She may not have the best upper body strength but fuck that is going to leave a mark.
