Chapter Eight

Titus

Repetition

“What did you do to her?” Catalina glowered at us, her fierce expression softening as she spotted Trinity.

“It’s fine.” Trinity breathed deeply as she pinched the bridge of her nose. “That went as well as expected.”

“It’s not fine!” Julian moved to follow Bianca. “I’m going to go talk to her.”

Somehow, I doubted seeing Julian would reassure Bianca at the moment. I caught him at the door. “I’ll go.”

“You?” Julian glared at me, disapproving. “You haven’t helped at all.”

“Because I’m trusting that Bianca can speak for herself,” I told him. “Enough is enough. There’s a time and a place, and you need to stop treating her like she’s helpless.”

“I do not!” He flushed. Whether he meant to deny my accusation, or was refusing to change his ways, I wasn’t sure. “You’re one to talk.”

I wasn’t sure what he was talking about.

She deserved to be pampered, and I enjoyed spoiling her, but in my eyes, Bianca was far from helpless. She was a highly capable woman who proved time and time again that her brilliant mind and unique way of thinking was exactly what our group needed.

But it didn’t matter, Julian would figure it out for himself. If he didn’t wise up, Bianca would eventually give him no other choice.

“Just get Bryce and meet us back home.” There was no use in him going anyway; when Mu wasreallyangry, I was usually the only one who could calm him. And right now, Bianca wasreallyangry. “I’ve got her.”

I didn’t wait for Julian’s response. After a quick glance at Catalina and Trinity, I left to go after Bianca.

Bryce was halfway out the door by the time I reached the front of the building. He looked down the parking lot, reluctance thick in the air. “What happened?” he asked. “I wasn’t sure if I should go after her or if she’d kill me.”

“She’d kill you.” I cracked my knuckles.

Iwanted to kill him.

Obviously, we knew she had to face this sooner rather than later, but why was Bryce the one who had to do it? We should have talked to her, but it seemed better to let her take charge of things herself.

Especially seeing as though she hadn’t had a lot of that in her life.

We could have gone over this on a day where she wasn’t in pain, or upset, or even afraid.

But the moment had passed.

Then again, she’d probably be upset and afraid no matter what, considering. However, this was a conversation she couldn’t avoid anymore.

“Titus?” Bryce stepped back.

“Go home with Julian.” I really didn’t have the right to confront her on my own—it really should be all of us—but what other choice did I have?

And, technically, this was my fault.

‘Isn’t that why everyone decided to ruin my life?’She was angry when she said that, but there was no missing the pain there either.

Or the truth to it.

Which was also the reason why I had to be the one to go after her.

“Don’t let Damen see you,” I warned Bryce as I pushed past him. “He’s going to be less than happy with how this turned out.”
