I was still wet from the night before, getting wetter by the second. His lips plucked at mine, leaving me desperate for his touch by the time his fingers slipped between my folds.

They slid easily, two finding the tiny nub and rolling it softly.

"You're beautiful…" he whispered. "You're perfect."

I didn't believe him, but I also didn't want him to stop.

His fingers swirled my clit, and I spread my thighs more for him, giving him better access to all of me. Every part I'd shared with him the day before.

I wanted to come again, to feel the way I felt when Kinden pushed me over the edge. I craved that feeling. The warmth of his body, the sound of his voice as he coaxed me along.

His lips peppered kisses down my jaw, making my skin tingle and my nipples pull tight when I realized he was moving down my chest to tease them.

He flicked his tongue over the stiff peak before sucking it into his mouth.

I came seconds later, my hands in his hair as he suckled on my breast, his fingers still softly swirling over my clit.

I tugged his hand away when it became too much and he brought it directly to himself, using the slick he'd gathered from me to allow his hand to slide smoothly up and down his length.

He shuddered only seconds later, the warm, wet evidence of his release cooling on my still twitching belly.

"Kinden…" I murmured.

"Zelle, I don't wanna leave you…" he whispered.

"I don't want you to either, but…"

"I know…" he gasped. "I know…" He kissed me, his lips desperate as he sought out comfort in my embrace.

We showered after that, there was no time to use the big tub in my bathroom. We soaped each other up, lingering a little longer than we probably should have, given the time, before we rinsed off all the bubbles and got dressed.

I could feel the impending loneliness encroaching with every step we took. Kinden wove some shielding spells around me and the entire apartment so Mother wouldn't be able to tell he'd been here.

He once again reminded me of the chicken in the fridge. And how I'd need to burn it soon, the sooner I had the ashes, the better.

He tried one more time, but still wasn't able to disarm the self-destruction, much to his chagrin.

I wasn't disappointed, but he definitely was.

He looked really upset as he hugged me close. "Ireallydidn't want to leave you here alone," he repeated.

"I know… but I'll be alright." I promised him.

"Rifyr's coming tomorrow night…" He said. "He would have come tonight, but something came up."

I nodded. "It's fine, Kinden. I promise you. I'll be fine."

I scooped up Basil as Kinden got all his things together. I held him close and he nuzzled my chin, echoing Kinden's sentiments. "I don't wanna leave you here, kid."

"It's not safe for you," I lamented, feeling the tears start to gather once more. "You'll be safe with Kinden."

"What about you, though?" It was the same old conversation we'd been having all weekend. He didn't want to go because what about me?

I was a witch. He was a teeny cat. I could defend myself against Mother. If nothing else, I just wouldn't let her into the tower. I was worried she'd put a curse on Basil or something else I couldn't protect him from if he stayed in the tower for much longer.

"I'll be in touch with Kinden. And we can video chat."

"What if they never get you out?" he asked.
