My stomach turned somersaults as I fought down the urge to take off running right now. Like a feral cat when they saw an open door.
I took several deep breaths and turned my gaze to the tower. Whatever happened inside, I hoped Mother got hers.
I sent as many good vibes to Sorrel as I could, closing my eyes and squeezing both of the hands wrapped around mine.
In a few hours, this all would be over and I could start my new life with Rifyr, Kinden, andSorrel. There was no way I was going to give up anything else for that witch.
I didn't feel so bad calling her that now. She might have raised me (sort of), but she was no mother of mine.
We all gazed up at the tower, unable to see the top where Sorrel was, but definitely able to hear the loud crash and see the purple sparks begin to fall down around us.
"Oh gods…" I murmured, squeezing both of their hands.
