Lights dimmed.

People whooped.

Shifters howled.

Spine tingled.

I took Brody’s hand and looked up at the tear, closing my eyes and reaching for it. Brody’s heat beside me grounded me. Kept me from thinking about anything else.

So when I grasped the edges of the tear and pulled, they started coming together a lot more quickly than they had before.

And when the person to my opposite side accidentally spilled their drink on the person on the other side of them, I ignored it, pulling the tear back closed and sighing happily as it sealed.

I opened my eyes, smiling widely. Brody noticed, looking down where our hands were clasped. He peeled back the glove, and hissed my name, holding out his hand to show me.

Skin.

Visible, warm skin.

I almost laughed aloud, but I didn’t. He simply took my hand and we snuck up to the balcony to find Indy.

Indy was only toohappy to sneak out with us. Brody pulled off his gloves, wiggling his fingers as we quickly went out the emergency exit.

“That’s one problem fixed,” I said slowly, eyeing Indy as Brody jammed the gloves back in his pocket. “I feel like we can’t leave until we figure out how to get Indy out of the mess we got him in with the pack…”

Indy shook his head. “I dunno. Maybe if y’all are gone, it won’t be a big deal?” He didn’t even sound convinced.

“It will be, though,” Brody said. “It’s always a big deal.”
