Between her and security, they had a two-thousand-dollar pool going, and the winner was going to be in fast food and guns for quite a while.

God.

She wanted to bitch slap Wyler for running away and making them chase him across the country.

Not only was she heartbroken, but she was irritated by his antics.

To.

Her.

Core.

As they were in the car, heading to the reservation, Gene was beside Ethan, and she, Chris, and Callen were in the back row of the rented black behemoth they were calling her ride.

How Ivan got them that beast of a car here in such short notice, she had no clue, but she was betting it had iron plating and bullet proof windows.

Never let it be said she didn’t know Toady best.

“We’ll be there shortly,” Ivan said, as he drove the vehicle, and the tail cars were right behind him.

Goodie.

She just loved being held hostage byDamascus. The place made her itchy, and definitely in a ‘I have poison ivy, and the misery is contagious’kind of a way.

She couldn’t believe she was back here and about to do this all over again. When they left, they swore they’d never return toFBI West, only the reservation.

“Thanks,” she said. “When we get there, I need to find Wyler, and then head to the office. Just because Ax is letting me work out ofFBI West, doesn’t mean she’s letting me slack. I have to get back to being focused.”

Oh, they all knew how much weight was now on her shoulders. This was making Elizabeth’s life more difficult, and the men knew it.

In fact, they wanted to give her an award for taking this like a trooper. Elizabeth hadn’t complained, but instead jumped in to do what needed to be done.

Ethan knew how miserable this was going to make his wife, and he didn’t doubt why she had those feelings. He’d been forced to hold this place up, and it had become way too much for him.

It had nearly broken them.

Now, they were back.

Hopefully, they would all hold up here.

“Are you going to be okay?” Ethan asked, worried about her, his father, the safety of the family, and just about everything else.

She nodded, but said nothing. Sometimes, silence spoke louder than words.

Only, Ethan wasn’t letting it slide. They knew that communication was the way to keep their unit intact.

“Lyzee…”

When she turned her head, he saw it in her eyes. She was pissed and underneath that façade of calm, there was a rage that was just waiting to boil over.

Well, never let it be said thatDamascusdidn’t bring out the worst in a person more times than not.

Now, the question was when would that rage show up at the party, and would it level everything. For his father’s sake, he’d better be willing to understand why they were all so damn upset over this.

They didn’t want to lose him, and they didn’t want to be excluded in the last days of his life.

Doing that to them had been cruel.
