Oh, it was a tight fit, but they were there for the Archangel show. Uriel was still watching her, and she knew her security team.
He was definitely interested. When Uriel wasn’t, he pretty much just went along with his business. Now, he was admiring her. There was a difference.
“I’m here,” she said.
The woman glanced over, and it had been a struggle to break the gaze with the big man in the passenger seat. He was handsome, and watching her.
It actually gave her chills down her spine, and she didn’t know why.
Elizabeth noticed it took all the woman had to look her way. Yeah, that wasn’t lost on Elizabeth.
Well, well, well.
Someone was equally as interested in her Archangel as he was in the cop.
Where were her Cupid wings and quiver?
“We have a bit of a hike back to the campground,” Rayna admitted. “It’s a little over a mile. We could have taken a paved road, but then that would mean a three-mile hike in the other way. It’s closer to your cabin that way, but longer to the site. I didn’t think your team would appreciate that.”
She’d been right.
Tony and Chris…they liked a short path. Probably because they had to carry equipment.
When she licked her lips, Elizabeth watched the artery in Uriel’s neck throb.
Oh, it was mating season on the rez, apparently.
“Let’s get our gear,” Elizabeth said, ready to go. Her mind was going a mile a minute on how she could help Uriel out with this one.
He had one speed.
Reserved.
“I’m going to put my other boots on,” she stated.
“Hiking in cowboy boots is a bitch,” she admitted.
Ivan knew which ones.
They were the military grade ones he carried for her in case she had to scale something, or hike for a distance. His onlyregret was that he’d not seen this coming, so he didn’t take the opportunity to put a tracker in the boot.
She lucked out on this one.
At her words, Rayna saluted.
“See you by that trail,” she stated, glancing over at the man in the passenger seat to give him a coquettish little grin that screamed‘ask me out’.
Elizabeth caught it.
And so did Gene.
Now, the question was had Uriel picked up what she was putting down?
When Uriel rolled the window up as the reservation cop walked away, Elizabeth went there.
“Ask her out.”
He turned, so caught off guard by what she’d said. Mostly, because he was dying to do just that. The second he saw her, he’d been fixated on her smile, and the sharp cheekbones that made her look incredibly exotic.
