“Stay off Lucifer’s Lair property!” The other man yells.
“By the way, the interest rate just went up. You now owe me 300 large and I want my money in a month. Do you hear me? If you don’t have every cent that I’m asking for, I will come by and take you.”
Joe’s eyes widen but he doesn’t falter as he walks over to me and slips his hands under my armpits to help me up. “That’s fucking ridiculous. She’s not paying it.”
Big Sir smiles and Big Don walks his short ass self over towards him with a sardonic smile. “Are you saying that you’re going to take it over?”
As he’s adjusting me to fit him, I wrap my arm around his neck to hold still. “I have his money in the trunk of my car.”
“How much?”
“All of what you gave me yesterday.”
The other guy steps up towards the Bigs and shoos them away. “We’ll be in touch,” he says.
I knew that Big Sir wouldn’t leave without making a comment about what just happened. I didn’t know what he would say though. “You have no idea what you just did, Lucifer. I know who you are and I know everything. Watch your back. This bitch owes me money and I will get it back. One way or another.”
The Bear
I’m beyond pissed off at Chantal right now. She didn’t trust me enough to tell me what she got herself into? Fuck the fact that we’ve only known each other for a week. I let her into my club. I let her into my room. I let her know that someone in my club is trying to kill me and she didn’t think to mention that she owes Big Sir money?
“Joe… I’m sorry,” she begins to say as her arms go limp around my neck. I know that she’s trying to distance herself so that she wouldn’t seem vulnerable to me.
That’s not happening.
I look at Flip and point towards Slim Jim’s dead body. “I need a clean up crew and a bucket of ice.”
Flip nods his head and reaches for his phone but stops before he begins to dial it. “Where do you want to take him?”
I give him a knowing look and he chuckles. “Sure thing, prez. Go easy on Pinky. She’s had a hard day already.”
Chantal lets out a breath and then looks up at me. Her green eyes are shimmering from her tears that she’s shed. But the part that gets me the most, is the red hot hand print across her cheek. “Hear that? Your friend told you to go easy on me.”
“Get your money out of your car and meet me at my bike. We are going for a ride and have a chat.”
For just a moment, I thought for sure she was going to argue with me and when she doesn’t, I consider it a win.
Don’t strangle her. Don’t pick her up and carry her out of the alley like a caveman. Be smart. Don’t lose your cool.
My mantra isn’t working.
By the time she comes back, she’s holding a lock box in her hand and a set of keys in the other. I take both from her and she doesn’t protest. Once they’re in my hand, I stick my other one out and cup the back of her neck. She takes a breath and stares at my lips.
“Are you going to kiss me?” She whispers almost inaudibly.
My answer to her question is when I crush my mouth to hers. It’s a hungry kiss that’s met with feverous actions. Her hands dig into my hair and she pulls me closer to her as she grinds her little body against me. Her lips are soft and forceful all at the same time and it’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever felt.
“Ahem.”
I growl at the interruption and see Zipo standing there with all of his equipment that he needs to clean up this mess. “Boss, you might want to take that someplace else. I’ve got work to do.”
“Put him on ice when you get back to the clubhouse. I’ve got plans for this one.”
I drag Chantal back towards my bike and help her get on the back. “I don’t know how to ride one of these things,” she says nervously. I don’t like hearing her sound so unsure of herself.
Just for a split second, the thought of her being so new in my world is probably overwhelming, that I almost stop being mad at her and kiss her.
I take my keys out of my pocket and unlock my saddlebag to stick her box in there and after I’m done, I drop another kiss on her lips. “Do whatever feels natural.”
