“Girls, please take your dolls to your rooms and I will call you down in a little while to pour the sauce. I need to talk to Caleb.”
They both look at me like I’m psychotic but I point to the stairs for them to go. “Fine!” They both yell and then stomp up the stairs.
“Keep making those faces and your face will stay like that!” I call after them and they laugh. Once the doors are shut upstairs, I face Caleb and take a minute to regain my composure. “Please let me repay you. Those dolls are not cheap.”
He places a finger on my lips to shut me up and without my telling my teeth to do it, I nip at his finger. He growls and then sits back farther away from me. “Trust me when I say that I’m good for it. Now, do you want to tell me what’s going on with Charlotte.”
Retelling the whole sordid and awful story is the last thing that I want to do, but I know I need to do it in order for him to know what is happening. “My brother, Gabe, was involved in some bad stuff. Like he was dealing and selling some shit. When he got together with Charlotte, she dragged him in further. She was addicted to cocaine and meth. When she found out she was pregnant, we all thought she was going to stop doing all of that shit. Well, she didn’t. They broke up and we never heard from her again. Around that time, I left the club and got alienated.”
“I know that the babies up there were born addicted to cocaine,” he says quietly. “Okay, sweetheart. I know that she’s not good.” Caleb brushes the hair back on my face and then keeps his hand on the side of my cheek. Against my better judgement, I lean into it. It’s been a long time since I felt this pull.
“So, yeah. After my brother died, she left them alone for a week in their diapers and crib. With nothing to eat and they were so filthy that it took many baths to get them clean again. Charlotte doesn’t have what it takes to be a mom and I refuse to let her take them.”
“Aunt Sin!” Jayla yells over the stairs. “I’m hungry! Super hungry!”
I nod to Caleb and then get off the couch. Once I do, I feel his eyes on my ass and to be a tease, I bend over at the waist to stick my ass out more. I smile with satisfaction at the gasp he gave.
When I’m in the kitchen, he comes up behind me and brushes his hand on my ass. “You tease. I know what you did.”
“What are you talking about?” I ask as I squat down to get the saute pan and pot out for spaghetti.
It’s when I am restored to my full height, I feel him lean against me. “Don’t act like I’m the delusional one.”
I hum at this and then go about getting the stuff out to make pasta. We talk about the legal defense while I set about cooking. Things are so domestic as I cook and he sits at the island with a Scotch. It’s almost as if he belongs here and I really like it.
“So what are we going to do about this?” I ask as I pour the cooked pasta into the strainer and then rinse it. Once the steam has subsided, I pick up the strainer and pour the pasta back into the pot.
Caleb watches me while I do all of this with a smile on his face. It makes me feel good that he’s smiling like this. It makes me feel as if he wants me for something more than the noterity of banging a porn star.
He takes a sip and then smiles. “First, I would need all medical records for the girls. Every single one. I need to prove that you are a fit guardian by taking them to the every doctor they need. Also, I am going to need for them to sit with a psychologist and they will ask the twins questions about you and their mom. It’s going to be busy but we will get it done.”
“All right. I need to call the twin-nadoes down so they can pour the sauce on the noodles or I will never hear the end of it tonight.”
He starts laughing and before I can out to the girls, he is behind me and rubbing his hands on my waist. “What is it about you that makes it so hard for me to keep my hands off of you? Huh, Sinclair?” Caleb’s voice sounds rough like he ran three miles in a matter of seconds.
I push my ass into his groin and he groans. With my hands, I drop them to where he is holding me and I grip them. “It’s because you want what you shouldn’t have. You know we would be tragic right? Our romance would ruin everything?”
Normally, I’m not so negative but I know for a fact that anything that I start with him will ruin my world. Caleb has the magnetism of a game changer and I can’t have that right now. I need him as my lawyer and not as a man that will make me question everything. Hell, the girls don’t need their aunt to be going ga-ga over some guy.
“Says who?” He whispers against the back of my neck. His breath is hot and it sends goose-bumps up my arms. “Because I don’t think that.”
“Girls!” I call for my nieces in order to get me out of this situation. Being alone with him is bad. He’s my lawyer and the last thing I need is to get caught up in him. I could just imagine what everyone would say to him about me. Him being connected to a porn star would be career suicide for him.
And I'm also the princess of Masters Of Chaos MC.
He chuckles and backs away. “All right, I can take the hint. I will behave.”
Yeah, but I don’t think I can.
After I have served dinner, we are all sitting in the living room watching some stupid cartoon that has a yellow square as the main character. This is the most annoying television show ever and I’m beginning to see why parents all around hate it.
Jayla and Jenna are snuggled up between Caleb and I but they have their dolls with them. I had to fight them to keep them off the table during dinner. Getting them stained or ruined would be awful and I don’t want to deal with all of that.
“Well, I’ve had about all I can take of this stu- show. It’s time for me to head home. Ladies, thank you for having me. I had a lot of fun being entertained by such beautiful women.”
Jenna pouts and holds her doll closer. “Why can’t you sleep over? Tyson, at school, says his mom has guys sleep over all of the time. They get to sleep in her bed. Aunt Sin, can Caleb have a sleep over?”
My face blushes and I look at a fingerprint on the television. Anything to focus on besides answering that question. Ah, hell. “Well, Tyson’s mommy is married. So, it’s different.”
