Chapter Seven
Lucian
Ralf and I are walking out of the club when I hear someone running up to us.
“You bitch! What did you give him?”
My eyes widen and I’m reaching into the back of my skirt for my gun. No one talks to me like that and gets away with it. I have my gun aimed on whoever approached us and I’m about to shoot when I see who it is.
“Mason? What the fuck are you doing here?” I growl at him. The last time I saw him, he left Katie and I for dead. He didn’t care enough about me to try and save us nor did he care enough to stay. He left.
His eyes are dilated and he looks pissed. “You gave him something! You gave him something and now he’s fighting for his life!” Mason yells at me.
“I gave who what?” The last thing I want to deal with right now is some asshole giving me shit in the middle of the street.
Suddenly, I’m aware that we are standing on the sidewalk in the middle of downtown. We’re drawing enough attention and that’s something I don’t need right now. Especially now that I have confirmation of Raul stealing from me.
I have too much rage running through my body to have a decent conversation. Plus, Mason has ticked me the fuck off before. I don’t know what I was thinking before. I have no idea.
I point towards the front of the club and Mason immediately walks in. I walk in behind him with Ralf coming in behind me.
“I gave who what?” I demand again.
“You gave Paul something and now he’s fucking dying!”
“I haven’t sold Paul anything,” I retort with malice. Everyone that does drugs, should know the consequences with doing them. There is a chance you can overdose. However, I haven’t had a situation of that in a long time.
These fuck nuts know Lucian McGrace doesn’t directly sell the shit. I have people that do that.
“Do you even know who Paul is?” Mason argues with me.
By him standing this close to me, I can smell his unique scent that makes my insides flutter with something I have never experienced. It has been so long since another man has stood up to me, and it’s hot. My insides get hot and I feel my face getting warmer by the second.
What is happening to me?
“Of course, I know who he is. What kind of stupid question is that?” Paul had been my driver a few times and always kept his mouth shut on what we were doing. I liked that he respected the fact I am a woman and I run shit. “What did he take?”
“We don’t know,” Mason answers.
I look over at Ralf who’s taking it all in. He’s nodding his head as he pulls out his phone to make a phone call.
“Did you see anything else today?” Ralf asks Mason.
Mason shifts on his feet. “I don’t want to get in the middle of some shit. I want my friend to be okay and that’s it!”
I use my body to trap him against the wall making it harder for him to get away from me. I need him to tell me everything he saw so I can address it. “What did you see?” I ask nicely.
Being this close to Mason, I watch his throat as he swallows. I watch his pulse beat faster and faster with each passing swallow. He’s affected by me. Perfect.
“I saw Raul doing a deal earlier and he saw me see him do it. He came to my brother’s apartment to threaten me and then I went to Paul’s house to talk to him about everything. When I got there, he overdosed.”
Ralf mumbles something low. “That rat bastard! I gotta make a call to a couple of people,” he mutters as he walks away from us.
Now that it is just Mason and I, I can’t help but want to get closer to him. He adjusts himself to get closer to my body. Our bodies almost touch.
“Ahem!”
I shake out of my fantasy of being able to be a real person and look over to Ralf standing in front of us. Mason pushes my arm out of the way and walks away from me.
