“From now on, you bring money out of this building, I want to count it. You bring money back in, I want to count it, too. There will be absolutely no way any of you are going to get freedom with the money anymore. Do I make myself clear?”
From the corner of the room, I see Ralf answering his phone with a growl. “What?... Are you fucking kidding me?... Did you pick him up?... No! I want his ass found before it’s too late. Do you understand me?”
He hangs up and throws his phone on the table in the middle of the room. “Everybody, out. I need to talk to Lucian.”
“Jesus,” I grumble. I don’t want to know what he has to say.
Chapter Four
Mason
With the money I made from working for Lucian, I decided it was time to move out of my brother’s apartment. I can’t stand his judgmental fucking attitude every time he brings up Lucian or her gang.
“You sure you wanna move out? You don’t have a job, bro,” Andrew reminds me from his seat on the couch with his PlayStation 4 controller in his hands. “Die! Die! Die! What the fuck? I killed your ass!”
I like video games like the next dude, but Andrew’s obsession is on a whole other level. He constantly plays video games and wonders why he hasn’t gotten laid in forever.
“Thanks for jogging my memory,” I grumble and start bringing out some boxes I have stored in my room. Well, my old room. “It’s time, bro. I need to be out on my own and not having you bail me out.”
He didn’t really bail me out, but he likes to pretend he’s charitable.
“Have you spoke to Lucian or any of her thugs lately?”
What is he trying to do? It is like taking a damn bullet in the chest every time he brings them up. It is bad enough I ran into Raul after a devasting interview and now he wants to relive everything?
I never told him how Lucian treated me like some sex slave and how I accepted it. I feel as if that is something I should keep to myself. I definitely don’t want him to start calling me a little bitch for allowing myself to be a submissive to a woman. That is something that would blow his mind.
“Nope,” I answer hoping he catches that I’m not in the mood to talk about her.
Even after finding out she’s a QueenPin for the gang, there is still a part of me that wants to be with her. I still want to know everything there is to know about her. Plus, she’s sexy as fuck. The woman is gorgeous and the confidence she throws around to make everyone submit to her is enough to drive me insane.
There are some nights that I even dream of her. I dream of what it was like when she was bossing me around and telling me what to do with my dick. I loved feeling as if she were in control. It is something I never thought I would enjoy or even find sexy.
Andrew hums and yells at his game some more. “I’m sure you’re gonna miss living here with me!”
“Like a tooth ache!” I call back and grab a box to bring out to my car.
My new apartment is about a block away from this apartment which means two blocks away from The Venetian, the club Lucian owns.
The stale air hits me in the face, staggering me back a little. I squint my eyes to block out the sun to see where I parked my busted car up at.
“Mason!”
My body stiffens and not in a good way. I recognize that voice. “What?”
Raul steps out from the shadows and walks out in front of me. He’s looking rougher around the edges today with his beard growing out and he’s not in his suit this time.
“You talk to Lucian?”
I chuckle. “Look, I’m not interested in your stupid fucking games. Thanks for the extra money, but I’m not interested. Leave me alone.” I walk around him and straight to my car.
Imagine my surprise when I see there is a fancy car next to my junker. Not just next to it, behind it. He’s blocking me in! There’s no way I can pay the insurance for the body damage I would cause on his one hundred thousand car. I would have to change my name and run to Mexico.
“Don’t even think about smashing my car, bro.”
I sit the box down on the front of my car. “What do you want? You obviously want something or you wouldn’t be here.”
Raul quickly closes the gap between us and is standing a foot away from me. He is still close enough to smell the old alcohol on his breath and the faint smell of a cigar.
