I stand up quickly and throw two twenties on the counter to cover my coffee and a big ass tip for my girl. She doesn’t look over at me once while I leave.
I have to figure out what the fuck is going on with her and what I’m making my problem. The minute she’s mine, she’s mine. Everything about her becomes my problem.
Maucho and I leave the diner in a hurry for me to get the info needed to know what the fuck is going on. I don’t bother letting the other brothers know we left. They’ll figure it out eventually.
“Speak,” I bark out and slam the office door closed the second we walk into the office. I stomp over to my chair and throw my feet up on the top of the desk. It’s my office, I can do whatever I want.
Maucho sits in front of me with his lip curled.
Every brother has a tell and that’s Maucho’s. Whenever he curls his lip, I know he is about to tell me some shit I probably don’t want to hear but I gotta.
“Edwards called and said us looking up your girl’s soc. sparked some shit back in Chicago. He didn’t go into too much depth, but there’s something goin’ on we gotta know about. The thing I want to know from you is are you wanting to pursue this with her. She’s not like the other girls we have hangin’ around the club.”
I nod. “I know. That’s why I like her. Maucho, I’m not gonna explain myself to you. I appreciate you tellin’ me what you heard, but we gotta know what she’s runnin’ from. Did Edwards say anything about knowing anything else?”
He shakes his head. “Not a damn thing.”
