After everything that has transpired, I’m in the front seat of an SUV with my daughter tucked into the back seat. The last thing I wanted to admit is that I’m thankful for Hawk stepping up and helping us. I didn’t want to express my fear of what this man was there to do.

I could have been dead in the middle of the parking lot of my apartment building and my daughter would have found me. That is what scares me the most. I don’t want my daughter to be tainted by all of this bull shit that is going around.

Hawk has his hand on my thigh in a comforting manner. Without even thinking about, I wrap my fingers through his fingers drawing the strength from him. I need the strength right now.

I’m hanging on by a threat.

I know there is going to come a time when I’m going to be needed to go back to Chicago to finish my case. I don’t know how they are going to do that with Savros wanting me dead. I know he has every intention and plan on how to kill me. He is a man that will do it in a heartbeat.

Above all, my concern is Riley. She doesn’t need all this.

Hawk drives us through a gated area and parks the SUV outside of a weird looking building. There are bikes all around the building and off to the side of the main buildings, there are multiple other buildings.

He picks my hand up and kisses the back of my hand. “We’re here.”

“Where exactly is here?” I whisper and look around.

“We’re at The Devil’s Disciples compound. You will be safe here,” he explains.

“What about Riley?”

Riley is already looking outside of the window at the whole new world out in front of her. She is loving every bit of this. I would have thought she would be afraid over what is happening, but she continues to surprise me.

“We get to live here?” She excitedly states.

“For a little bit,” I’m quick to throw that out there.

I have just met Hawk and already I have come to rely on him so much. It took a matter of a sexy afternoon for me to agree to come live with him. Only one afternoon!

This is when I get killed. This is truly the part where I get killed and I’m going to get killed in front of my daughter.

“We’re not staying in the main clubhouse,” Hawk chuckles. “My house is around the back. The whole compound is under lock and key. Nothin’ will happen.”

I take a deep breath. I thought for sure Savros wouldn’t have found me when I moved across the country. Sure enough, he found me. He found me even from jail.

Even from behind bars, he is still calling the shots with me. He is still in control over everything.

Hawk pulls my hand to urge me to get out of the SUV. “My house ain’t the Four Seasons,” he states snidely.

He leads Riley and I to the back of the clubhouse where there are individual houses all around the back portion. Every one of the houses is about the same size but the one at the end. The one at the end is bigger and you can tell whose house that is.

He points at it. “That’s mine.”

I smile and Riley and I follow behind him.

The house is a simple white color with two stories. The outside of the house has some windows with trees next to them. I’m impressed on how nice the house looks.

He opens the door with a slight smile. “It is nothing fancy.”

“We don’t need fancy,” I mumble and follow behind him.

The inside of the house looks like a total bachelor pad. There is not much on the walls and it smells like a man. The furniture is simple, nothing like the furniture that Riley and I just lost.

“Looks like a man’s home,” I mumble to him.
