Hawk

My phone keeps ringing bringing out of a good sleep. I growl at my phone as I answer it. It’s Maucho on the other side of the call.

“Yo,” I grumble. I’m not ready to be awake yet and leave the warm body lying next to me.

Looking at her from here, you would have never guessed the woman has been in hiding for her life. She’s so fuckin’ smart, being an attorney and all of that shit. I never would have thought I would be with something on the right side of the law.

I’m not gonna be the one that tells her anything about me or the brothers. Fuck no.

Maci curls closer into me and I wrap my arm tighter around her middle.

“You know your girl?”

I look down at Maci and smile. “Yeah.”

“What’d you find out?”

I don’t want to tell him about Maci. I don’t want the brothers to start actin’ weird around her when they meet her and all that.

“A lot. I can’t talk about it. What can I do for you?”

“We need to have a church about what I just found out. When ya comin’ back?”

My head spins. The last thing I want to do is leave her but I know I have to. I know I have to deal with the shit that could fall back on my club.

“I’ll call ya back,” I grumble and hang up without giving him a chance to argue.

There is a little whimper coming from Maci in her sleep and I chuckle on the inside. Everything about this woman is amazing. She has come to mean a lot to me in a short amount of time.

As much as I try to shut my mind down, I keep thinking about what Maucho has found. What did he find?

My head hurts and I stare at the ceiling with Maci plastered to my chest. Her light breathing is proof to me that she’s still sleeping. I run my hand up and down her back when all of a sudden her alarm on her phone goes off.

She snuggles in deeper and closer to me trying to cling on to sleep as much as she can. I know that’s what she’s doing because I hate waking up, too.

When I opened my tattoo shop two years ago, I made sure that all of my appointments were scheduled for the afternoon. Waking up in the morning is nothing I like. I’m definitely a night owl.

Plus, all of my customers like my hours.

Fuck. I gotta remember when my next appointment is. I think it’s at five tonight if I remember correctly.

One of my repeat customers is wanting his whole back filled with ink in a tribute to his kids. It’s a cool design that we’ve been workin’ on for the past few months but the fucker has a lot of kids. He told me he has seven kids and he and his baby mama are trying again.

Fuck that.

One kid or two kids is enough. All of those shows where the parents have fifty kids or whatever their psychotic number is, is ridiculous.

Her alarm goes off again. “Baby, you got some place to be?” I ask her.

She moans a little. “Yeah, I gotta pick up my kid from school.”

“Well, then get that sexy ass up!”

She smiles in her sleepy state. Even her being all sleepy, she’s still the sexiest woman I have seen in a long time.

“I have to work tonight, too.”
