She smiles. “Of course, I brought one of my favorite dresses.”
I know a lot of the activities around the lodge are about to be starting. I can feel the crisp air hit me as I open the door along with the fresh smell of snow.
From the corner of my eye, I can see the horses being let out of their stables to get ready for their daily rides. That is something I’m going to have to reserve for Raina and me. We rode on a carriage ride the night we lost our virginities to each other.
I can tell she is remembering that night by the secretive smile on her face. I wink at her while I start to unload the car. I grab both of our luggage and walk towards the cabin we are staying at. I’m not surprised to see all of the lights on in the cabin since Karl got here first.
Our footsteps crunch with the snow littered under our feet while we go to our cabin. From the outside of the cabin, it looks like a traditional cabin. Log style, big chimney in the middle of the home, big windows with white shutters outlining them and a white door.
Karl swings open the door before we even get to it and rushes towards Raina. He’s wrapping his arms around her waist then spinning her in a circle. “I’m so happy to meet you!”
Raina’s eyes widen with shock then she busts out laughing. “I’m happy to meet you, too!”
“Let’s go inside!” Karl turns to look at me with a big giant wink. “Your parents have already been by and wanted you to know about the reservations tonight at six.”
Of course, they have been by. I’m surprised they aren’t lurking outside of the cabin right now trying to get a peek at Raina.
“Thanks, dude.”
He leans in close to me and stage whispers: “She’s beautiful!”
“You are about as subtle as a punch in the face!” I mutter then shake him off. He means well.
Chapter Thirteen
Raina
I instantly like Karl. He’s a goofy guy but I can tell he’s a great person. I’m still a little nervous sharing a cabin with two guys, one I have never met before. However, I’m determined to have a good time. I need it.
I’m mentally preparing myself for the questions both of our parents are going to be asking us. I already know they are going to be invasive.
Karl takes me by the hand and leads me to the master suite in the cabin. The master has an ensuite with a decent size jacuzzi in it. There is a fireplace in the middle of the room as well.
“The lady should always have the nicest room,” he informs me with a wink.
This man is so funny.
Luke is muttering something under his breath that I don’t quite hear. I’m sure it has something to do with how extra his friend is being.
“I reserved a carriage ride for you two after dinner!” Karl sings.
He’s up to something.
I take my time getting ready before dinner. It has been a while since I have been here and I wanted to make sure I look nice. Plus, it isn’t every day I’m escorted to dinner with two professional football players.
I’m rolling my hair into some light waves when there is a slight knock on the door. “Almost ready!” I sing out.
Luke chuckles. “We have to leave in about five minutes. Let me know if you need more time.”
It isn’t that I need more time to get ready. I’m just extremely nervous and can’t believe I’m about to go on a weird date-like thing.
Is this a date?
I look at the mirror one last time. I’m wearing one of my favorite sweater dresses that flow right below my knees. The dress is an off-white color with black flowers littered throughout it. I top it off with my black boots that go right below my knees.
Here goes nothing!
Luke and Karl are standing in the living room with a beer in their hands. Both men turn to look at me as I approach them and both give me an appreciative look. I guess I clean up nicely.
