Luke’s eyes meet mine with anticipation. “Okay, everyone. I’m going to get back to my date now. Thank you for being here!”
The few people who didn’t get any attention from him groan out in dismay. Luke smiles at them before sliding over on the couch to sit closer to me. “What is it?”
I peel back the envelope to reveal two tickets for horseback riding at sunset. My heart skips a beat since this is one of the most romantic events at the resort.
I show them to Luke who bursts out in a smile that melts me all the way through. “We have to go,” he informs me.
Horseback riding at sunset is one of the most romantic things anyone can do here since you are all alone on a trail through the woods. The snow is falling around you while glistening in the moonlight. I absolutely have always wanted to do this. I’m excited to be able to have someone to be with.
Luke is looking over the tickets and I can tell he’s plotting what to say next. “We can eat dinner first and then go, if you want.”
My mind tells me to be careful while my heart tells me to go for it.
Chapter Twenty
Luke
Karl is sprawled out in front of the television when we get back with a mischievous grin on his face. “Did you guys have fun?”
Raina blushes slightly before turning to look at me. “Yes, thank you. Did you have fun being a couch potato?”
He chuckles. “Of course. What are you crazy kids going to do tonight?”
I start to feel anxious inside at the thought of having such a romantic date with Raina. We haven’t discussed what this week means to the other person and I don’t want to ruin anything.
It is obvious Raina is feeling something for me. I just have to make sure she sees that I’m worth falling for. I’m worth her taking a risk for.
“We have a reservation to go horseback riding,” I inform him.
Carl is smirking while giving me the look that says everything. “Really?”
Raina smiles before retreating to her room. “I need to get ready,” she mumbles.
My friend leans over while pausing the television. “Are you going to make a move?”
I roll my eyes. “What is this? High school?”
“That girl likes you!”
“Again. What is this? High school?” I ask him incredulously.
Carl shakes his head and goes back to watching television. I stop in the middle of the living room before retreating to my room to get ready.
“Any ideas?”
He chuckles. “Are you going to stop being afraid and make a move?”
I’m now sitting across from him on the couch. “I’m going to try.”
“She might be okay with the added pressure from being with a celebrity. You never know.”
Being with a celebrity can be difficult for a lot of people who are not used to the limelight. I would never want to make someone feel uncomfortable by being with me.
I stuff all of those thoughts aside as Raina comes out of her room dressed warmly and smelling like a sugar cookie. There is something so sweet about the smile she has on her face as she approaches me.
“Hi. Did I take too long?”
I shake my head. “If it was too long, you were definitely worth the wait,” I smooze.
