I know who this woman is. I know exactly who she is and I can’t believe I’m running into her like this. It happened so long ago.

“I’m so sorry,” she mutters before yanking her hand from mine and running towards the door.

I see a man walking towards the door with his eyes fixed on the woman who has just bolted from me. He strolls by me trying to catch up to the woman.

I feel a shift inside of me- something urging me to follow behind her to make sure she is okay. I’m running out the door looking both ways down the sidewalk trying to find her.

After what seems like a long time but is probably only a couple of minutes, I resort to going back inside.

It is obvious she doesn’t recognize me and I’m not going to be the one who chases her to remind her. I’m not going to be the one pines after a woman.

I contradict myself when I can’t help

but follow behind her. Screw meeting my friends. I need to make sure Raina is all right.

Chapter Three

Raina

Whoever I made angry in the spirit world, I deeply apologize to them. Not only was I just dumped in front of a lot of people, but I run into one of the most gorgeous men I have ever met in my life.

The man who I ran into, looks oddly familiar. I’m not sure if I’m just going crazy after being dumped so publicly or if I have met him before.

“Raina!” Colton yells down the street.

I’m so angry and confused with everything that just happened, I’m not in the mood to talk. In fact, talking is the last thing I want to do right about now.

All I want to do is go home, crawl into some comfy pajamas, and curl up on the couch. I’m needing the distraction one of my shows could give me.

I’m reaching out my hand to get the attention of a cab driver when Colton grabs my arm to pull me back to look at him.

“I brought you here and I’m taking you home,” he informs me.

My insides are bubbling with rage as the last thing I could possibly think of wanting to do would be getting into his car. I’m looking around the streets to see if any taxis or car services are driving around for them to take me home.

“Colton, I’m not getting into the car with you. Please leave me alone,” I murmur with my chin straightened to give me a sense of security.

Leaving Colton on the snowy street, I walk towards the awning to call an Uber or a car service to come and get me. Anything to get me out of this situation.

I get to the awning with my fingers frantically trying to type on my keyboard to get in touch with a car service, I startle when I see a car idling in the middle of the road. I’m about to scream when the window rolls down and someone leans over to speak to me.

Every instinct in me is telling me to run. There is nothing good that could come from this. I don’t know why I’m standing here asking to be kidnapped.

“Miss, are you okay?”

Holy moly! It is the same person who I ran into at the restaurant. Wait… He was going into the restaurant not coming out. Did he leave the restaurant to come and check on me?

“I’m fine,” I mutter. My brain is swimming with the humiliation of being dumped so close to Valentine’s Day.

Much less expecting to be proposed to!

The man parks his extremely expensive luxury car and walks over to me. He has his hand over his heart as if he is about to promise me something.

It is right then that I remember who this is.

“Luke Willows,” I whisper. His name feels foreign coming from my lips. A name I haven’t spoken of since that one Christmas where we lost our virginities to each other in front of the fireplace.

I promised myself I would never forget my first time and I hadn’t. I just forgot what he looked like.
