“I need you to tell me I’m crazy for wanting to see if something is going to happen between us,” I admit solemnly.
“I’m not going to do that. I think this could be good for you.”
Blank Spaceby Taylor Swift is playing in my head with the lyrics of it could be forever or whatever. I haven’t listened to that song in forever, but I’m truly feeling the words right about now.
“What should I do?” I whisper.
She giggles. “Well, are you ready for the dance today?”
I look down at the gorgeous dress the resort brought to me which was picked out by Luke. It is an off-white dress that has a sweetheart neckline to it. It flows to my knees with a lace overlay. It is so pretty.
“Yes. Luke surprised me with a new dress.”
“I really want to hate you right now.”
I shrug. “I would want to hate you if this was you and not me. Help!”
Sarah takes a deep breath before speaking again. “You’re going to be fine. If he’s not interested, you spent an amazing week with a professional football player. If anything, I think you won the breakup with Colton.”
I roll my eyes. “How does someone win a breakup?”
She giggles. “By having a romantic week with a pro baller who just won the Superbowl.”
I haven’t thought about Colton that much because my brain and heart are wrapped up with Luke.
“I’m going to go for it,” I whisper to her.
“You should probably be more convincing.”
I look in the mirror one last time before I hear a knock on my door signaling it is time to leave. “I’m going to go for it!”
She laughs a proper laugh. “Be good!”
I roll my eyes. “I never thought I would hear that from you.”
“If you get married, are you still going to work?”
“Jeepers!”
Chapter Twenty-Four
Luke
I’ve never been this nervous before in my life. I can’t remember the last time I had butterflies in my stomach as I’m waiting outside someone’s door to pick them up.
Karl chuckles as he secures his tie around his neck. “This is hilarious. Are you going to prom?”
“Shut up!”
I lift my hand to knock on the door and Raina opens it before I can do it.
“I thought I heard you out here,” she whispers.
The woman is already beautiful, but right now she’s breathtaking. Her hair is curly in bouncing waves with her pouty lips pouty with her lip gloss on.
“I’m trying to catch my breath,” I whisper back.
She tosses her hair over her shoulders and looks me up and down. “You look incredibly handsome,” she tells me.
