Maverick is the sweetest and funniest boy ever. He’s hilarious and keeps his school laughing at his antics. There is a common similarity between Maverick and Dale and that is their love for bikes.
“They are wanting you to go to the front desk and sign something for him to have surgery to remove the bullet,” a delicate voice from behind me says.
I turn to look at the woman behind me with another identical woman next to her. The women are beautiful and judging by Chase looking up and down one of them, I’m assuming that’s his woman.
“I’m Natalia,” I introduce myself stupidly.
I could only assume by the horrified look on the other woman’s face that she must be dating Dale. Dale definitely has a type and this woman looks similar to me but she’s blonde. I stupidly pull down my dress to fidget a little.
This situation is so strange and something I never imagined.
“You must be Dale’s wife,” the woman says with tears choking her throat.
“You must be the woman who my husband’s been screwing,” I reply.
Chapter Five
Cassie
Seeing the woman who my boyfriend is married to is something I never would have thought.
Should I have known he was married all along? Were the signs there this whole time and I didn’t see them? I would think I would have picked up on it if my boyfriend was married. Right?
She’s beautiful in a way that I’m not. She’s definitely Irish with her reddish hair and beautiful green eyes. She has a thick accent that makes me jealous and I could only imagine how beautiful she would be if we were not in the hospital.
Have the past years been a lie with me and Dale? What else has he kept from me?
As I’m beating myself up, a little boy pokes behind Natalia’s legs and he’s staring right at me. His eyes are the same as Dale’s and his hair is the same color as Natalia’s hair. He’s a pretty cute little boy.
“Do you want one of us to watch him while you handle the shit up there?” Colm asks with his hand reaching out to the boy.
Not only is my boyfriend married but he’s a father.
I clutch the piece of paper in my hand that I received from the nurses and try to shield it from everyone’s prying eyes.
“Can I come with you up there?” I ask timidly. I’m petrified as to what is going to happen with Dale and now I’m face to face with his wife.
Were they together together? Were they in love while being together? I’m so confused.
Meeting her just made me wonder more about their situation. Am I the other woman?
My heart aches at the thought of being the other woman. My heart breaks at the thought of the past few years of being a lie. I couldn’t imagine Dale lying to me like this. I couldn’t even begin to believe I was so stupid to not realize he’s been lying to me. After all of these years and me questioning why he hasn’t said too much about his past…
Everything is becoming clearer and at the same time, it is becoming blurrier.
Brielle is standing back with the guys while I walk with Natalia to the front desk. I’m standing behind her as they are chatting about Dale. Natalia is presented with some formal paperwork and the doctors go over it with her.
“Mrs. White, Mr. White has been shot in the chest and it missed his heart. However, the bullet has knicked his left lung. We are needing to operate to make sure there aren’t any complications from the GSW,” the doctor explains.
I’m completely floored that I’m having this conversation with a doctor and my boyfriend’s wife.
Again, I clutch the piece of paper closer to my body. The truth in the piece of paper is enough for me to feel grounded. I’m needing something, really anything, to make me feel like I’m here. This has to be a dream.
Who lies to their girlfriend for this long about being married?
I’m mentally kicking my ass all over the hospital because now I’m a dirty mistress. Now I’m the one that everyone is going to talk about because I’m some whore sleeping with a married man.
He could have told me, right? I have questioned him so many times about his past and he could have told me anything about it.
