“What brings you out here, Steinbeck?” Pierce asks, instead of handing me over to the large man.

He’s kind of handsome in a big brute kind of way. Danger hangs in a thick fog around his wide shoulders and he’s built like a semi-truck. His dark hair is shortly cropped and he has a tat of the grim reaper on the middle of his chest.

I notice a chill in the air as the night begins to fall, and the wind begins to blow as it always seems to in the evenings. I gulp as the woman moves forward, coming up behind her man.

She has red hair that hangs past her ass. She’s clean shaven down stairs, and then I notice she’s wearing a silver collar. And she’s only looking at Pierce—a thing that has me seeing red. “Hey, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” I snap at her.

All three of them finally look at me. “Who told you to talk?” the guy asks me, then looks back at Pierce. “Haven’t you taught her anything?”

“Nevermind her. Answer my question,” Pierce says with an authoritative tone.

“I found out where your hideaway was and rented one for myself. We moved in a little over a week ago, in a cabin about a quarter of a mile away. The wilderness is nice, isn’t it?”

“And the privacy has been nice too. So see you around the club sometime.” Pierce leans over to pick up his shorts.

The red head is looking directly at his dick, and I stomp my foot. “Damn, bitch!”

Pierce grabs me as I try to go after her. He holds me by the waist, lifting me off the ground. “Don’t.”

I stop wiggling and do as he says to. The other man is quick to say, “At least you’ve taught her to listen to you. So how about a trade for the night?”

“I’m not into that,” Pierce says, then takes my hand, pulling me along with him.

“Your contract is about up. You should know I put in for her next,” the man says, and Pierce stops and turns back to glare at him. Anger fills his expression and I can feel his pulse speed up.

“It doesn’t matter, Pierce. I’m ending my membership as soon as our contract is up anyway,” I let him know.

The way Pierce looks at me makes my heart flutter. “You are?”

I’ve played with him a lot, trying to use jealousy to get him to see how much he really cares about me. I’ve told him I might stay on as a member to find out more about BDSM. I didn’t mean it, though. I don’t want to be with anyone but him anyway.

“I am,” I tell him, then give him a smile. “Do you want a crack at his woman for the night, though?”

He shakes his head as he looks only at me. “Nah.”

Looking over my shoulder at the burly man and his whore, I say, “Looks like you two are out of luck.”

We walk off into the woods and back to our cabin as they watch us go. Holding tightly to Pierce’s arm, I find the cool air creeping up on us quickly. Lightning flashes, sending odd lights through the tree tops. “We need to hurry. The bottom is about to drop out on us,” Pierce says, then picks me up and starts running.

Thunder booms as another burst of lightning temporarily fills the forest. Our cabin looms ahead and then it begins to pour, making it hard to see. Luckily, my man has me in his arms and we make it into the cabin.

Just as he puts me down, a knock comes to the door and we look at one another. “You know who that is,” I say.

“I do. And we need to let them in.” Pierce opens the door, finding Steinbeck and his woman on the porch.

“Care to give us some shelter, pal?”

Pierce runs his hand through his wet hair. “Gentlemen’s rules must apply.”

With a nod from the other guy, Pierce steps back, and the two, now dressed in soaking-wet clothes, come inside. Pools of water are at all of our feet. “I guess I’ll get us all some robes to put on.” I walk away to the bedroom, finding my heart sinking fast as the thought of the four of us sitting around in robes isn’t a good idea to me.

Then the lights go out and I really begin to get a bad feeling. An eerie laugh fills the air. “Oh, good. What luck,” Steinbeck says.

“Hey, don’t!” Pierce shouts, then I hear footsteps coming toward me. “Jade, wait for me.”

“I haven’t moved, Pierce.”

I feel his hand on my shoulder, then he moves me to the bedroom. “There’s a flashlight in the drawer next to the bed.”
