“I will definitely see if I can get some lessons back in the States. I won’t give up now. I love it.”
“And what if I wanted you to dance with me?” The question hung in the air, as if all the pieces of the puzzle would fall into place with this final idea.
They smiled at each other and left the question alone.
“That swim was great. Just what I needed.” She winked at him, letting know it wasn’t just the swim that she’d needed.
He was staring at her with wistful eyes and he reached over and took her in a long, tender hug. “It’s nice to see you swimming in the pool. I don’t know how someone so tiny can fill up this whole place with life.”
Chapter 13
After breakfast, Antonio pushed his plate away and yawned.
Donna watched in delight as his chest expanded while he breathed in. She couldn’t help but look at him. He was magnificent. Whenever her eyes fell on him, she felt she was looking at a masterpiece, an exquisite painting.
He took her hand. “I would gladly spend the next couple of hours exploring every part of you, but … I have urgent business to get to, and pleasure must wait a little.”
“All right, I’ll get out of your hair,” she said with a teasing pout.
“No, please stay. If you can, enjoy the gardens, make yourself at home. And when I’m done I will drive you into town and we can go for lunch. There is a little café I know on the seafront. They have the most delicious paella. Besides, I want to fuck you on the sand.”
Well, how was a girl to say no to that?
Donna wandered about the house in a dream-like daze.
It was as if she had stepped into a fairy-tale. Her heart was fluttering and she couldn’t do anything to make it stop.
There was a library, a games room, a Jacuzzi, and a gymnasium. In the living room there was a grand piano and a small stage covered in marks, where flamenco dancers had worn the floorboards.
She had never seen a place like this before. Persian rugs, chandeliers, and original art hung from the walls. It really did feel like a self-contained castle. She imagined living here full-time, and then put the thought out of her mind quickly.
She didn’t want to get too attached. Antonio was a dancer, a millionaire, and a total hottie.
He must do this kind of thing a lot. He could have his pick of women. The thought of that jarred her to her core.
This, she told herself, could be a truly great summer of love. Let it be enough.
She looked at her phone, checking the calendar. Her heart sank, realizing she only had four weeks left until her flight home. But what a month they could have!
As she was wandering through the rooms, a seemingly infinite labyrinth, she heard the creak of a door. She looked around—no one.
She followed the noise, heading down the corridor, and caught sight of a figure in purple shooting off around the corner. She instantly thought of Ivan and a chill went through her.
What was it about that man that unnerved her so much?
She wandered around a little longer, but whoever had been there had disappeared.
One of the adjacent doors was agape and as she pushed it fully open, it revealed a beautiful library. The walls were lined with books reaching up to the ceiling.
It was the most beautiful room she had ever seen. She walked to the little chestnut wood desk in the middle of the room. A green reading light was on and the desk looked messy, as though it had recently been disturbed.
As she leaned over to switch off the light, her eyes fell onto the printouts strewn across the table. Something instinctive made her reach down.
Noticing something familiar in the photo, she uncovered it.
A deep sinking feeling came over her and she thought she might faint.
