“Just put it to my lips, let it slide down my throat, and that’s it.” I took the shell out of his hand and put it to my lips. “How does that old saying go? Through the lips and over the tongue, look out tummy because here it comes?”

“Sounds right to me.” He grinned at me. “I’ll give you a nice long kiss after you eat it.”

Slurp. “Ah,” I said then took a drink of the beer. “I’ll take that kiss now.”

Leaning over the large round tray, I met him in the middle and our lips met. His tongue slipped through my lips then played with mine and I played right back.

When he ended his kiss, I sighed as he said, “This is it. This is the life. I have found what I wasn’t even looking for. And I’ve found it with probably the one woman on this planet that I never thought I’d find it with.”

He chuckled and shook his head. “I feel like an idiot for not realizing it sooner. But you were untouchable. You were taboo. And now you and I are husband and wife, and your entire family is happy about it. Even your brother. Ha! I wouldn’t have believed this if anyone had told me. Would you?”

I had to agree. “Patton, this is fate, that’s what it is. A miracle. And like most miracles, as my mother says, we are not to think too much about them. God’s gifts are often things we never see coming. I never saw this coming and neither did you.” I had to laugh. “What you must’ve thought when my brother came to you, asking you to marry his pregnant little sister.”

He took another oyster, gulping it down then chasing it with some beer. “I thought, ‘Huh? What?’ But then I thought about you being so afraid, not knowing what to do, or who to turn to, where to go. I knew then that I had to make things easy for you.”

“And you did.” I leaned over, kissing him on the cheek. Then I ate another oyster. “You know, these aren’t half bad.”

“Right?” He ate another. “And they make you randy, baby.”

“Randy?” I had no idea what he was talking about.

“Yeah.” He handed me one more. “I’ll let you tell me how they make you feel.”

I ate the third oyster and felt nothing. “I have no idea what you’re talking about with this randy nonsense.”

Before I knew it, we’d finished the entire tray. I picked it up and put it on the dresser then turned to find Patton spread out on the bed. He held one rose out of the bouquet he’d given me as an apology for our argument. “I’d like to run these soft petals all over your body.”

Moving across the room, I found his smile cheeky. I loved this roguish side of him. “Mmm, now why does that sound like such a great idea?”

“Are you kidding me right now?” He moved over me as I lay on the bed. Barely touching me with the soft rose, he whispered in my ear. “You said it yourself, the oysters are aphrodisiacs.”

“Doesn’t that mean they’re appetizers? Like a fancy word for them?” I had honestly thought that’s what it meant.

“Randy means horny. Or aroused is probably a nicer word for it.” His lips moved over my skin, barely touching, the same as he did with the rose. “And aphrodisiacs are foods that make you randy.” I could feel his smile on my skin.

The flower moved over my breasts, then down the middle of my stomach before being whisked across my womanhood. I suddenly realized why my body arched and I moaned in ecstasy. “Oh,randy.” I closed my eyes, falling into the abyss of bliss as he kissed every last inch of my body. “Yeah, I get it now. I do feel aroused. But randy is a much better word for it. At least I can tell you when I feel aroused without everyone knowing what I’m saying.”

“Sure, baby.” His lips moved to find mine. “No one will ever know what you’re talking about if you say that.” He laughed, and his freely given happiness sent me over the edge again.
