“Yeah, this isn’t like her.” I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t want to bring up foul play, but something wasn’t right.
“I’m going to text her to let her know that I’m now aware that she’s left the deacon’s home and that I know about the note she left too. I’ll give her a few hours to contact me or I’ll be forced to go to the police. That should smoke her out of hiding.”
“Toss in the thing about your mom passing out and having to go to the hospital. Twist that guilt card.” It wasn’t like me to think that way, but I was worried about the girl.
“Whatever it takes to make her tell me where she is, I will do it. You did say that she’s been calling into work, right?” he asked.
“She has been doing that, yes.” At least that meant she was alive. “I just don’t know where she would have gone. And I don’t know why all the lies either.”
“Me neither. But I will find out. There’s gotta be something wrong, Patton. My princesa doesn’t do things like this.”
I had to agree with Luci there. It only made me more curious about why she was doing so now.
