It was absolutely wrong to snatch a quick moment with him after hours, which made it all the more appealing. “You’re going to make me come just talking about it.”
“Then imagine how good it’ll be when we actually do all those things.” He put his arms under her and pulled her off the wall. He carried her down to the end of the hall and kicked open the door. “But for tonight, the bedroom.”
They tumbled onto the bed together, frantically kissing as they pulled off their clothes. Tina whipped off her shirt and squirmed out of her bra. She sighed as Dex took off his shirt, revealing his broad chest, strong shoulders, and tight abs.
She pushed him back against the pillows and opened his jeans. Next came his boxer briefs. She ran her finger down the thin trail of hair that started at his navel and led her straight to what she really wanted.
Tina straddled his muscular thighs. She wrapped her hand around his shaft and stroked slowly, gliding her fingers over the soft skin, teasing him, enticing him.
She lifted her hips and sank down on top of him. Dex put his hands on her waist and pulled himself against her, tightening their connection until they couldn’t be any closer.
She braced her hands on his chest and dipped down slowly, moving her body against his, his heated shaft filling her. With her legs spread, her most sensitive spot throbbed. His words had already gotten her halfway there, and it didn’t take long before their speed increased, both of them building into a frenzy of desire, passion, and the knowledge that they were truly meant to be together.
He was her mate. Hers. For the rest of their lives.
The coil of tension that’d been turning tighter and tighter finally released. Tina cried out as her body spasmed, pleasure blooming from her core and radiating outward. Dex’s hands clamped hard around her hips, deep groans vibrating from his chest with each thrust until neither of them could take any more.
Panting, she kissed him once again.
She lay next to him in the dark, her head resting on his chest. Tina listened to the steady thrum of his heart, and she felt her own beating in a steady reply. She was happy and content, purely satisfied, but she sensed a certain tension in him. “What is it?” she asked into the darkness.
He moved away from her slightly so that he could turn on the bedside lamp. “There’s something I want to ask you.”
“I thought you already asked me,” she teased.
Dex laughed lightly and kissed her forehead. “No, something else.”
She wasn’t nervous this time. The two of them were going to face the world together. Everything would be all right, no matter what. She propped herself up on one elbow to look at him, still safe in the crook of his arm.
“You’re a big part of Sage’s life, and you’re about to be an even bigger part now that we’re together.” His thumb made slowarcs against her lower back. “Would you be Sage’s legal guardian and magical custodian?”
“Oh, Dex!” After the pleasure they’d felt together in bed, Tina had no control over her emotions. Tears dripped down her cheeks and onto his chest. “Me? Really?”
“Who else would it be?” He pulled her close and kissed her tears away. “What do you say?”
“Yes,” she cried. “Absolutely, yes.”
EPILOGUE
“How didthis get to be so big?” Dex asked, nervously looking around as more and more of the Heywood pack arrived at the covenstead. “I thought we were just going to have a small ceremony.”
David put his arm around his son’s shoulders and hugged him tightly. “Consider it a blessing! Everyone wanted to be here. It says a lot about you and Sage, and about Tina, too.”
“I know you’re right. It’s just…I don’t know. I’m a little nervous. But it’s not like I have cold feet,” Dex quickly corrected. “I know this is what I want.”
“I know that, too,” his father assured him, “otherwise you wouldn’t be doing it. And it’s all right. Everyone gets a little nervous when they have to stand up in front of dozens of people and declare their feelings.”
“Not helping,” Dex said flatly.
Joyce appeared next to them, grinning. “I think everyone is here! We’re ready to get started. Tina and Sage are waiting for you on the back porch. Everyone else is in the yard.”
“All right.” It was all going by so quickly. Though it was a lot to have almost his entire pack and Tina’s whole coven all in onespot, Dex was glad. Everyone they knew would get to see how much they loved each other.
As he stepped out onto the porch, he found Tina crouching down in front of Sage, giving her dress and hair the final touches. She stood, and he could see the long purple gown that flattered her brown eyes. The cloak attached at the shoulders gave her a regal look.
“Daddy!” Sage said when she saw him. She twirled in a circle, making the pink skirt of her dress puff out. “Do you like my dress? Tina helped me pick it out!”
“Yes, I do. It’s very lovely.” His eyes roved back to Tina, completely entranced by her. How lucky was he to have a woman this beautiful in his life? “You both do.”
