“That’s encouraging, I guess. I suppose I’ll have to tell Di and Nitya soon.” Kyra smiled at him as they headed to the car. As soon as they were inside the car, Kabir smothered her with kisses.

“Please tell them soon so I can hug you properly and kiss you without fear of being caught. I want to be with you freely. I don’t want to fear any other guy swooping in.”

“Any other guy never stood a chance, Bir.” Her breathless response was met with his smouldering gaze.

Kyra assumed they were headed to Kabir’s other apartment, so she was baffled when the car suddenly stopped at a popular five-star restaurant. Then all of a sudden, Kabir dragged her into the restaurant, a place where getting a table was next to impossible.

The maître d’ welcomed them. “Mr. Oberoi, we are ready for you.”

“What is this?” Kyra questioned as she turned to face Kabir.

“I can’t date you without an official first date, can I?” Kyra watched in wonder as Kabir sat across from her at a table by the window with a small candle flickering in the middle. He gifted her a bunch of exotic red roses and a chocolate box which she accepted with the excitement of a kid.

“This is the best date I’ve ever been on—and I haven’t even eaten yet.” She flashed a wide grin.

He rewarded her with a delicious laugh. He teased her, “I promise to deliver the best, princess.”

Kyra volleyed back, “Those are some big promises.”

With his hands crossed over his chest, he stated, “Big is my middle name.”

“You’re cocky.” Kyra laughed.

“You love it.” Kabir blew her a kiss.

She blushed hard as they were locked in a staring contest.

“Hey, Kyra, Kabir.” Mira approached their table while dressed to the nines and leaned down to give her a hug.

“Hey, it’s good to see you, bhabhi ji.” Kabir hugged her.

“Ugh. Don’t call me bhabhi ji yaar.” Mira hugged him back and sat down.

“Di, what are you doing here?” Kyra was taken aback by Mira’s arrival.

“I was going to ask you the same.” Mira threw her a funny look.

“Well, I... I mean, we are...” Kyra stuttered.

“Mira, I called you to meet us here so we could speak.” He turned to look at Kyra, who sat silently in shock. “You can tell her, princess. I’m here with you.” Kabir squeezed her hand over the table.

“Princess?” Mira arched an eyebrow in question, eyeing their hands.

“The thing is, Di, we have to tell you something.” Kyra swallowed.

“Kyra, you’re scaring me. Is it Dad? Is he forcing you to go to work for Ranjeet Chachu?” Mira asked with concern.

“No. Everything is fine with Dad.” Kyra swallowed. “It’s just that…I wanted to tell you that I’m... I’m dating someone.”

“Whoa. That is great. Dating who?” Mira was intrigued.

“Kabir.” Kyra crossed her fingers under the table.

“Kabir? Do you mean Kabir, as in Oberoi? My brother-in-law Kabir?” Mira repeated, glancing at Kabir.

“Yes. The same Kabir.”

“Mira...” Kabir tried to speak, but Mira cut him off.
