“You will finally be able to live without all the pressure, princess,” he said.

“Quit tormenting me. I had already gone through enough when I dumped you that day.”

“I would’ve thought you would be happy to be free of me.”

“Me too.”

“But you’re not?”

She wiped at her eyes. “No,” she murmured, her heart beating wildly. She clamped her mouth shut.

“And why is that?”

Was he going to make her spell it out for him? That was just cruel. She answered hotly, “Because I did the stupidest thing imaginable and fell in love with you, and then I had to dump you because...” She just trailed off, looking at his face. Was that relief in his expression? She didn’t have time to question.

“Because I know what that vile ex of mine did to you.”

“What?” Kyra was confused.

“Yes, we all know what Raina did. She’s not your concern anymore. Actually, she is not anyone’s concern anymore.” His eyes shone with a different emotion.

“I don’t understand…”

What was happening?Kyra opened her mouth, and he placed his phone on the table.

“Play this video and see it for yourself.” Kabir folded his hands and leaned back, gazing at her as if she was his favourite channel.

Kyra ignored the heat that rose in her belly. With trembling hands, she took the phone and tapped the Play button. The video started to play, and Kyra inhaled loudly. Her hands shook, and she covered her mouth in disbelief as her eyes widened. She was speechless and completely shocked by what she was seeing. Her heart was beating more and more rapidly as the video continued to play. Her hands grew clammy.

When the video ended, she tossed the phone onto the table and shot to her feet. Tears began to form in her eyes as she swallowed the lump in her throat. She couldn’t believe Raina had been arrested and everyone knew about her scheming. As she entertained the possibility of having Kabir once more, she experienced joy and hope. She felt his presence behind her even before he touched her. He grabbed her by the shoulders, turning her around to face him.

“Kyra, baby, now you know why we are here. We don’t have to stay away anymore, princess. I’m so fucking sorry. I was such an ass that night. I pushed you away. I’m sorry, Princess.” Kabir cupped her face as tears streamed down Kyra’s face. He gently wiped them away.

She moved closer, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, enveloping her in his warmth. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and hugged her tightly, letting her wet his shirt with tears.

“I screwed up. I realise that. I should have trusted you and told you about Raina no matter what.” Kyra stifled a sob as she mumbled into his shirt. “She threatened me, Bir. I couldn’t believe she lied about being pregnant. She showed me the scan and the positive test report.”

“That reports and the scan were fake. She paid some doctor for giving her fake results.”

“What a bitch! And what about the contract she told me about?”

“That was all fabricated. She did that all by herself.”

Kyra pulled back to look at Kabir. “How could I have allowed her to hurt you in any way? She had threatened that she would if I didn’t do her bidding. She then showed me Nitya’s video. I didn’t know what to do. I believed the only way to stop Raina from making our lives miserable was to end my relationship with you.” She covered his hand that cupped her face. “I’m sorry I hurt you, Bir.”

“I know, baby. It wasn’t your fault.” He gently rubbed her arm and pulled her closer to him with his other hand. “It was my fault because I didn’t even consider that something might have happened for you to become indifferent so suddenly. I should have dug deeper,Kyra. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you from Raina’s hurtful actions,” he spoke in anguish.

“It’s not anyone’s fault. And I don’t feel any pressure of our relationship, Bir. Being with you makes me feel alive. Every word I said that night was a lie. In fact, I am crazy about you,” Kyra whispered.

“I’m crazy about you too.” Kabir took a deep breath, letting her love fuel him to finally share his whole heart. “I never had someone protect me so fiercely before. And that night, the woman I love went to bat for me.” She gasped when he used the L-word. “I should have told you way earlier that I love you. I should have said everything to you.” Inching closer, he pressed his forehead to hers. “I should have told you that I’m madly in love with you and want you to be mine. When you told me it wasn’t real, I was devastated—”

“Kabir, I didn’t mean it. I said it to make you hate me.”

“I know that now. I was foolish to think that you could ever hurt me. But it was all for the best. Because losing you made me realise I’d do anything to have you back in my life. Because you’re the one for me. We’ve known each other since long, and sometimes I feel like I fell in love with you quickly, in only one week. But I know I’ve been falling in love with you over time, over the years. It just took a few days of being stranded together in the cabin to realise that you’re the only woman for me. You’re the only woman I want to love.” He brushed the back of his fingers against her cheek. Her eyes were alight with joy. He recognised the emotion because he was feeling it as well.

“What do you say, baby?” Kabir smiled as he saw the look of confusion on her face.

She grabbed his collar, pulling him closer to her face. “Ever since you walked through the door of my parent’s house all those years ago, you have been the one who owned my heart.I love how you love rules and schedules, but I love it more when you break them for me. In fact, I’m madly, deeply and completely in love with you.” She said, frowning as he pulled out from her grip. She wondered what had happened as she’d never seen that particularly fierce look in his eyes before.
