“This is between us sisters, Kabir.” Mira gestured towards her and Kyra. “I mean... No offence, but please give us a minute, will you?”
Kabir nodded and leaned back on the chair, watching the scene unfold in front of his eyes.
“I have nothing against Kabir, but Ky... you told me you have gotten over him. That you didn’t have a crush on him anymore. Moreover, didn’t you tell me that he is a haughty jerk? And now, you’re in a relationship with him?” Mira blinked, slowly observing how pink Kyra’s face had become. “When did this happen?”
“A haughty jerk. Huh?” Kabir raised his brow and eyed Kyra with a gaze that held promise to punish her.
“Di, I didn’t say that,” Kyra said, covering her face with her palms.
“Oh, yes, you did.” Mira narrowed her eyes.
Kyra opened her mouth and started from the beginning. She told her everything, from the day she got in the car with him to go to Shimla and how things progressed from there, minus the details of their sexy and passionate moments.
Forty-five minutes later, Mira sat with her mouth hanging open, taking in the way her baby sister’s face was glowing with admiration and love for Kabir. Mira had expected something like this. But the way Kabir held Kyra’s hand, kissed her knuckles, brushed away her tendrils of hair, speaking with her tenderly showed that both were equally into each other.
Mira felt it was weird yet beautiful. Weird because she was her baby sister, and he was her brother-in-law, and beautiful because they both were so much in love. Ultimately, she wanted them both to be happy, and if being with each other made them happy, she would support them wholeheartedly.
“So, that’s how we got around to dating each other.” Kabir held Kyra’s hand in a tight grip.
“Wow. I’m speechless.” Mira exclaimed, seeing them both in a new light. “But... I had an inkling this would happen. I got the vibes from you both, you know.”
“So, you’re not angry?” Kyra asked.
“Of course not. I love you and want you to be happy. I just want to know if you’re sure about this.”
“Yes, Di. I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
“Well, if you both are serious about taking this through, I won’t come between you. You have my best wishes to take this relationship further.” Mira smiled, looking at them.
“So, Kabir... Kyra was and is already crazy about you. What about you? Should I be worried about your intentions?” Mira folded her hands against her chest.
“Don’t you worry, Mimi. My intentions for Kyra are pure and real. You don’t have to worry about her anymore. Trust me, please.”
“I always trusted you, Kabir. But now, I trust you even more. I’m happy for you guys. But promise me you are going into this with your eyes open. Promise me you will never hurt my baby sister, Kabir.” Mira held her hand in front to make the promise.
“Di. Stop it...” Kyra grumbled. “Kabir won’t ever hurt me.”
“No, Kyra. Let her speak. She is your elder sister. She has every right to worry.” Kabir stared at Mira seriously and held her outstretched hand. “I promise you, Mira, that I will do everything in my power to keep Kyra happy. I will never hurt her.”
“That’s better.” Mira narrowed her eyes. It’s important that you respect, love and remain loyal to her. I won’t hesitate to make your life hell if you ever hurt her. I’ll make sure you won’t get away with it even if Adil tries to save your ass.”
“Well, even Adil won’t try to save my ass, as he has already threatened to cut me into pieces if I ever hurt Kyra,” Kabir replied.
“Adi knows?” Mira sat straight.
“Yeah, I told him in the afternoon.” Kabir trailed off as he realised his mistake. He shouldn’t have revealed this. Perhaps he just threw Adil in front of a speeding train.
“Adil knew, and he never mentioned it to me? This was an important piece of information and a happy event, that too about my little sister…and he failed to tell me? I’m his wife for God’s sake. How could he? It’s probably time for me to call my hubby.” Mira continued to rant despite Kabir and Kyra’s efforts to calm her down.
“Guys, this meeting has been fantastic, even though I didn’t find out about you two first. I’m honestly thrilled for you both. But now, I have to go. I’ll see you later. Have fun, Kyra. Bye, Kabir.” She winked at them and hurriedly departed the restaurant.
As Mira rushed out, Kabir laughed and said, “I guess I should have kept my mouth shut.”
“He won’t stand a chance against her anger.” Kyra snorted.
“Most likely, she won’t stand a chance against his arrogance.” Kabir shook his head.
“I think you brothers have that in common. The sheer arrogance.”
