“It’s called confidence, your highness.” Kabir winked.
A server soon came up to them, holding a bottle of their best wine.
“Miss Kapoor, Mr. Oberoi. It is a pleasure to serve you tonight. Kabir studied the menu while the server opened the wine. Bring us every one of the house specialities. Bring us everything on a different plate so we can sample them all.
“Absolutely, Sir.”
They drank a light red wine, and he glanced at her dark espresso eyes as the plates were placed on the table. He questioned while they ate, “How’s your chicken parmesan?”
“Oh, it’s wonderful.” Kyra moaned.
Using his fork, Kabir reached out and snatched a tiny piece from her plate before putting it on his lips.
“Hmm, that is good,” Kabir remarked.
He was having so much fun. Even quick lunch or dinner with Kyra was a fascinating experience because she tended to enjoy everything with such zest. He was about to offer her some of his sushi when a hand lightly brushed across his shoulder, and a grating voice forced him to freeze.
????
“Kabs!”
Raina had a stunned expression, which she quickly masked as she stood next to their table. She looked hot in her trendy tangerine, strapless, body-hugging mini dress, which was borderline obscene. She looked flawless with perfectly applied makeup, and her wavy hair was styled in a glamorous way as if she had specifically come to lure Kabir rather than to eat in the restaurant. Her smile faded as she turned to face Kyra and Kabir. Her smokey, long-lashed eyes swept over Kyra once more before dismissing her. She smiled suggestively and lowered her hand to Kabir’s chest, delicately brushing the lapel of his suit jacket with her fingers.
Kyra’s hands clenched under the table, and her brows furrowed in response to the gesture. She felt like slapping the woman because she was so furiously jealous. Kabir was now hers and hers alone, so she only hoped Raina would stay within her limits. If any of his former girlfriends tried to snatch him away from her, she wouldn’t think twice about playing dirty.
“Kabs, I’ve been trying to get in touch with you for so long. I was so worried when you were stranded in the blizzard.” Raina pouted.
When Raina leaned towards Kabir, Kyra almost rolled her eyes and was inclined to shove Raina away so she could claim Kabir by plopping down in his lap.
“Raina...” Kabir gently circled her wrist and lowered her arm. “I was busy.”
“Wow, really? Too busy for me?” With a forced smile, Raina glanced once more at Kyra. “What brings you here with her, by the way? After the wine tasting, does she still need to learn anything from you?”
Raina glanced at Kyra. “Do you really think I didn’t know that? Of course, Kabir told me everything after we started dating. He was my boyfriend.”
Kabir glowered at Raina, who was grinning cunningly. He had no idea why she had come here to talk to them in the first place. He was about to give Raina a piece of his mind, but Kyra intervened.
“Exactly. Hewasyour boyfriend. He’s mine now. You’d better stop being overly touchy with my boyfriend and give us some space to enjoy our dinner.”
Raina couldn’t believe her ears. Kyra and Kabir were together? When did this happen? She always thought Kabir would return to her, apologising for being a jaded jackass. She believed a few months apart from her would force him to realise she was the total package. But the situation had taken a completely different turn. This was a disaster. Kabir was only hers. Raina was pissed as she yelled. “After all this time, are you going to allow her to speak to me like that?”
“I have no clue what you’re talking about,” Kabir answered carelessly.
“I’m talking about the fact that this girl is insulting ME,” Raina answered snootily.
“I don’t care about it, Raina. I don’t care, and I’ve never cared. Maybe you were so blind in your ambition to climb up the social status that you failed to notice this little detail.”
“How dare you, Kabir? You have never spoken to me like this before. This girl has done a number on you. She is such a pathetic loser for living a life that belongs to me,” Raina screeched.
“Shut up, Raina.” Kabir snapped. “Stop with your bullshit right there. This girl you’re referring to is my girlfriend. You’d better watch it before you insult her again. I’ll make sure your image as a high-profile social butterfly is ruined. There won’t be any new fish in the sea for you to catch, and you can say goodbye to your lavish lifestyle. And the social circle you are so desperate to belong to will deliberately avoid you like the plague.” he threatened ruthlessly.
Raina turned around after hearing his cold comments and rushed out of the restaurant with a snarl. As she approached the parking lot, she noticed Mira standing at the side and talking on the phone. She was about to unlock her car door when she overheard Mira’s conversation.
‘Ruhi, I still can’t believe Kabir is dating Kyra.’
‘They both are so happy and in love. I can’t wait for Mom and Dad to know…’
‘They will be thrilled. Dad already likes Kabir. And Adil’s parents have always had a soft spot for Kyra.’
