“That’s good to know because I want to do everything on your bucket list with you, making all your wishes and dreams come true.” Kabir whipped a box out of his pocket so fast that Kyra couldn’t make out what it was. Before she could understand what was happening, Kabir kneeled down on the floor with a box in his hands.

Kyra’s eyes widened, and her mouth gaped as he continued, “I want to build a life with you, love you, cherish you, and one day have children with you. I never believed in happily ever after, but you changed that. I love you. Will you do the honour of being my wife? Will you marry me, Kyra Kapoor?”

Kyra cupped her hand over her mouth to try and hide her shock, but Kabir could make out from her eyes that she was smiling. Slowly, her head bobbed up and down in a nod. Her lips parted, but no word came out.

“Don’t keep them waiting, princess. Our parents and our families are holding their breaths, waiting to know if you said yes,” Kabir said, still on his knees.

“What? You’re crazy!” Kyra exclaimed, still processing everything.

“Only for you.”

She stared at him, stunned. “You’re the man of my dreams, Kabir Oberoi.” She pulled him up, and a lone tear escaped her eye.

“No more tears, princess.”

“I’m so happy. I am on cloud nine.” She laughed. “Did you say our families are waiting? Do you mean our parents know?”

“Yes. Look out of the window. I told them, darling, that you’re it for me. I confessed my love for you and asked your father for your hand in marriage.”

“No way.” Her jaw dropped.

“Yes, way.” Kabir grabbed her by the waist and turned her to face the window of the jet.

Kyra could see their families waiting eagerly near the jet. She was overwhelmed with joy and relief and started to cry. All this time, she worried that she might not be good enough for him, that they won’t ever make it to this stage—and Kabir just put all that thoughts to rest.

“Don’t let them just stand there. Can’t you see they practically not breathing?” Kyra cried and laughed at the same time.

“Baby,I’mpractically not breathing. This ring is waiting to adorn your finger. What do you say?” Kabir pulled her close, his palm gripping her neck.

Kyra looked at him. “YES. How can I not say yes? Are you crazy?”

“We’ve already established that I am.” He lifted her hand and slipped a beautiful, square-cut diamond on her finger. It was exactly what she would have chosen for herself. It was elegant, beautiful and simple. She felt like she was the luckiest woman in the world.

“It’s gorgeous.” Kyra couldn’t stop staring at the ring.

“Not more than you.”

“I love you, Bir.”

“I love you too, my princess.”

Kabir’s eyes were full-on blazing as his gaze fell to Kyra’s mouth. He rubbed her lower lip with his thumb and framed her face in both hands, placing the most delicious, tender, and melting kiss ever on her lips. His heartbeat shot up as Kyra moved closer to him, and he drowned himself in the intoxicating sensation of their passionate kiss.

Kabir pulled back after a minute and looked at her with desire written all over his face, trying hard to control the urge to have his wicked way with her. “Stop doing that.”

“Doing what?” Kyra asked innocently, knowing exactly what he was talking about.

“Kissing me like you want me to fuck you senseless,” Kabir growled against her lips, and Kyra sighed.

“Maybe I do.” She kissed him again, and he pushed her against the wall, pinning her hands above her head.

“No matter how open-minded I am, I don’t want our families to witness us going at it like rabbits. Just be patient, princess.” He gave her a quick, searing kiss, and she almost whimpered. He pushed himself off the wall in time as their families entered the jet.

TWENTY-SIX

Everyone congratulated them and oohed and aahed over her ring. Chaos surrounded them as Ruhi clicked pictures of everyone, especially of Kyra, posing with her ring. Mira instructed Kabir and Kyra to pose romantically for social media pictures and also, for circulating them in their texting group chats. Vaayu poured the champagne, and Adil stood holding Amaya in his arms, taking in all the fun. Their parents sat smiling, with proud and happy expressions on their faces.

After the photo session was over, Kabir and Kyra went to their parents. Kyra hugged her parents. Her mother was speechless, her face brimming with happiness, and her Dad congratulated her, telling her he’d already talked to Kabir before he proposed. Kabir and Kyra sat beside their respective parents.
