“We?” Cox raises a brow.
“Yeah,we.” Alpha Drox looks from Cox to me. “This is an attack against our kind. We need to work together, so I was going to suggest we form a major pack.”
I stare at him, and he sighs, knowing what I'm going to say before I do.
“How?”
Alpha Drox stares at the table between us and nods to himself, or maybe his wolf. His face is etched with anger as he says, “We bring everyone here. It's the largest packhouse.”
Cox gapes at him, but he's right; we have the largest packhouse and the most land.
It makes sense that it’ll be here.
“Some Alphas won't agree,” I reply, flexing my fingers.
“Then they are on their own,” Alpha Drox comments without emotion. “The invitation is extended, and the rest is up to them.”
Multiple packs on one pack ground sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it's the wisest move. We are still determining what the rogue pack will do next, and there's strength in numbers. I nod my agreement.
“Alright. Let's invite them to the party.”
Chapter Twenty-Nine
ONE WEEK LATER
CALIX
How the fuck can I find outwhoandwhatthey are? I don’t know the first thing about them other than that they hate us and want every one of us dead.
Alpha Drox gazes at me. He’s thinking the same—I just know it.
“What thefuckare we going to do?” I grit out, unable to keep a rein on my patience. Things are escalating quickly, and I need to do something about it before more people get hurt.
My phone beeps, and I frown.
Who is messaging me on my phone?
A human, no doubt, and I can only think of one that would.
LEON: Where is my sister?
Ah, for fuck’s sake. I knew it wouldn’t be long until he piped up, but I guess he is Blair’s brother. I have to give himsomething, or he will probably go looking for her drunk and end up in a ditch without me babysitting him.
I text him back while Alpha Drox steeples his fingers.
CALIX: With me at my home. She’s fine.
I turn my phone over so it can’t distract me, and of course, I know Leon will reply, but I don’t have the mind space nor capacity to think about Leon.
“So, I’ve reached out to a few Alphas.” Alpha Drox raises his brows and makes a face that tells me he has already been told to get fucked. “Alpha Asher has agreed, however.”
This has my brows shooting to my hairline.”Really?”
He’s thelastAlpha I would have expected to come here. He’s too proud of his heritage and land to leave, surely.
“Losing Nina has made him fear for his pack, Calix.”
“I understand.”
