Her eyes widen as tears spill down her cheeks, and fuck if it doesn’t make me hard. So she can knee me in the balls and still get me hard? I’m completely fucked.

Where are you, Alpha?Cox mind-links me, and I sigh, staring at Blair before replying.

My mate is afraid I’m going to eat her.

Cox’s laughter fills my mind, and a smile twitches on my lips.

Blair begins to fight me again, and she bites my arm hard and scratches my face, making me jump back in surprise. She takes the opportunity and fucking runs with it, literally.

“For fuck’s sake,” I roar, and she lets out a whimper. “You want me to chase you?”

Does Blair really think she can outrun a werewolf? It’s laughable, but I’ve got to say, I’m impressed. I watch until she disappears from my vision, then let my wolf take over. He can handle this because I’m pissed the fuck off.

My wolf takes over happily, his paws sinking into the wet soil as he chases our mate, nothing but love and warmth spillingfrom his core. He fucking loves her. I inhale the grassy scent, the morning dew, and the wet soil.

Nature soothes me.

We catch up to her, but my wolf circles her before appearing before her, making her stop and fall onto her hands and knees.

“No…” she whispers, comically screaming my name. “Calix!”

Un-fucking-believable.She’s screaming for me now.

My wolf steps closer, bowing his head as he stares at her.

Blair stills, her mouth forming an ‘O’ as she recognizes my wolf. Pride blooms in my chest, and my wolf smirks at me.

She prefers my wolf to me.

Whatever.

“It’s you! You’ve come to help me again!” Blair moves forward on her hands and knees, leaves and mud splattering her thin clothes. She’s ice cold again. She throws her arms around my wolf, and he nuzzles into her neck before guiding her back to the truck.

“You’re like my guardian angel! There’s a crazy man here…” Blair mumbles, her hand clutching a lump of my wolf’s fur. “He said he’s a…”

Oh, this will be good.

Blair stares down at my wolf, her eyes searching his. I wish I could capture the moment the realization hits her—it’s classic. It’s got to be the eyes.

“Cal…Calix?”

Well done, baby.

Chapter Twelve

BLAIR

Either he's insane, or I am. Something is wrong with one of us—because there's no way werewolves exist.

Yet, here I am, staring into the same golden eyes I saw Calix with only minutes earlier. Okay, these are more intense... but so were Calix's when we were attacked last night.

Oh, my God. This can't be real... there's no way Calix is a wolf, and not just any wolf, the wolf that comforted me when I was attacked by Billy and his friends.

My chest heaves, and I gasp for breath, panic taking over.

The wolf nuzzles against me, but I back away, feeling like I've been massively betrayed by this beautiful beast. It’s eyes follow me, and I choke on a sob, trying to come to terms with what's right in front of me.

A fucking wolf—that is also a human.A werewolf.
