“You’re a good man, Tank,” she says, patting my hand.
I pull her in for a hug and kiss her forehead. Pip is like a mom to me after mine fucked off, as she didn’t want to be a parent anymore.
“Why don’t I keep Beau for the night and give you all a break? Relax and let your hair down?” she offers.
“I’m sure Joker and Carrie would appreciate a night out.”
“Beau,” I wave him over.
He comes running, still wearing the fucking helmet.
“Beau, would you like to sleep at Aunty Pip’s house tonight?” I ask him.
“Can I still wear the helmet?” he asks, causing me to roll my eyes and Pip to laugh.
“Not sure how you’re going to eat and make cookies with me, wearing it, sweetheart, but we can try,” she tells him.
“Yes, please, Aunty Pip, you make the best cookies,” he says, jumping up and down.
“Come on then, sweetheart, let’s get you some clothes from your room,” she says, guiding him inside, luckily Beau has his own room here at clubhouse.
When Beau has a bag packed and is ready to go, I help buckle him into Pip’s car and see them off.
Once they’ve gone, I head back inside and join Reck at the bar for a drink.
“Tank, where is Beau?” Carrie asks when she walks into the clubhouse, sounding pissed.
“Don’t panic, Gorgeous. He’s with Pip. He was helping her make cookies and wanted to spend the night,” I explain.
“That’s fine, but next time let me know before you say yes,” she scolds me.
“Sorry, Gorgeous, just thought you might need the break after today,” I say with a smile.
“Why after today?” Reck asks.
“Just had a therapy session. All’s good, old man,” she reassures him.
“Glad you’re okay, Baby girl,” Reck replies, pulling her in for a hug.
We sit at the bar for a while, the lads are talking as I’m people watching.
“What’s going on there?” Carrie asks, nudging me.
I turn to look where she’s nodding to.
Dog is sitting in the corner on his own, with a scowl on his face.
“Fuck knows, Gorgeous. Dog has had a bone between his teeth for a while now,” I tell her.
“But what has Wire done?” she asks.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Are you blind? The look he is giving Wire is like he wants to kill him. I’ve noticed him looking at him like that a few times,” she points out.
“You always were so observant, Gorgeous. I hadn’t noticed.”
“Of course, you haven’t. Men notice nothing,” she laughs.
