PANDORA

The second I'd sent that text, I regretted it. That is not what I meant. I meant that the club needed to vet its members more. Tank’s reply makes me feel even worse. He really is more sensitive than I thought, and I’ve made him feel even worse. He is the kind of guy who feels every pain caused to his brothers and the club. It's his job to protect them, and he is more than likely already feeling guilty that his brother was hurt and another taken while on his watch. I just couldn’t help myself; this whole situation is bringing my bitchy side out.

We’re still hunkered down in the warehouse, watching across the street for movement.

“I’ve managed to get the cameras online,” Rose finally tells us.

“Thank fuck, what can you see?” I ask, moving to get a better look at her screens.

“They have about four men inside, armed. Then you have what must be Dog, from the cut on his back, and the asshole in the suit is Lukas,” Rose replies.

Watching the screens, I can see that Lukas and Dog seem to be arguing while the other men are sitting around, bored, and not paying attention.

“No Wire?” Kate says, from beside me.

“Okay, here is the plan, we need to split into two teams. Carrie, you go round the back with Willow. Kate and I will take the front. Rose, I need you on the roof, running comms, but also as a sniper. I’d have preferred you didn’t do both, but we have to work with what we have. We get in and out as quickly as possible,” I explain.

Nodding their agreement, we arm up.

My trusty Desert Eagle is tucked into my holster with extra ammo in my pants' pockets.

“As soon as we have Wire, we leave and return him to Havoc.”

We all file out of the room and down the back stairs. Once in the alley that runs along the building, we crouch down, watching the warehouse.

“Carrie, Willow, you go first,” I tell them.

Watching as they stick close to the wall, they dart across the road and down the side of the building. Kate and I are waiting until Willow confirms they are in position. Ensuring my gun is loaded, I nod to Kate, and we make our way to the front door.

“We’re in position, and we go on my count,” I say once Kate and I are at the door.

“Three, two, one. Go!”

Shooting the lock on the door, I pull it open and instantly dive to the side as a hail of bullets fly past me. Looking around the edge of the door, I return fire and take one of the men out. We make it through, and I can feel Kate at my back, returning fire, as we shoot the men located in the main room, but Dog and Lukas are gone. Working from room to room, there are more men here than we had thought there was.

“Carrie, Willow. You good?” I ask into the comms.

“First floor clear, no sign of them,” comes back.

Moving up the stairs, we clear the second floor. Going back downstairs, we go through all the rooms again. In the back, we find one with four women in it. As we enter, they all look scared.

“Don’t worry, we’re here to help you,” I explain, making my voice as soft as possible.

“Found a room with women in it, in the far-right back corner,” I tell Willow through the comms.

“On route,” she replies.

“The men who hurt you are gone. You are safe now,” I reassure them.

Carrie and Willow meet us and help us free the women and lead them outside. They all huddle together as we move them across the street to the warehouse we’ve been using for surveillance. Once inside, the women still look really afraid, but not so much as when we first found them. Then again, we have just moved them from one warehouse to another.

“Rose, we need transport and aid for the women we found,” I tell her as she appears downstairs.

“Already on it. Sparrow and Ivy are on route. They will get the women what they need,” Rose explains.

I love this group of women, each one's as badass as the other, but loyal and reliable. The Phoenix is family, and we look out for each other.

“Going back to look for Lukas and Dog. Have Rose help the women,” I tell Willow.
