“You and your husband drink on the house while I’m here.”

“There you go! That’s what we’re getting out of the arrangement,” he says with a chuckle. “I’m sure Theo will justloveme being all hyper on caffeine.”

After that, I head back to my truck, pull out some clean clothes and a towel, and make my way to the shower. I make quick work of washing myself and getting dressed again. I’ll have to ask them if they have a laundry room I can borrow as well. I don’t want to overstay my welcome or fall out of their good graces, but washing my things here instead of heading out and finding a laundromat in my truck would be so much easier.

There’s a few people out on their porch swings as I make my way back and I give them a friendly wave. This place is ridiculously nice. The atmosphere is welcoming, the place is clean, and everyone here seems super chill. I like it and I’m so glad they gave me the okay to park here.

“You the truck owner?”

“That I am,” I call back to the person on their porch.

“You planning on opening up today? I could really go for a latte, but I’d be happy to wait until the morning.”

I give him a grin. “I’m happy to open up. Give me a few minutes to get my shit together and then I’ll open up the window, alright?”

“Sounds great!”

I open up the back doors and make my way into my truck. Tossing my shit in the front, I grab my apron from its hook, flip on the generator, and start making sure everything is ready to serve people.

It doesn’t take long before I’m sliding the window open. I grab my stepping stool so I can reach outside, hooking the open sign up before hooking the sign with my prices on the other side of the window.

It’s while I’m precariously dangling from the front of my truck that I see someone running. At first, I just notice the movement from the corner of my eye but when I turn to actually look, I’m unable to pull my eyes away.

Oh. My. Gods.

The man is running without a shirt on, his upper body glistening with sweat. My mouth waters with the desire to lick him and feel his abs against my face. Jesus Christ. His face and chest are red from running, highlighting his toned body and chiseled jaw. His hair is a mess of blond that I want to run my fingers through despite the way it’s soaked with sweat.

I feel more like a dog in heat than a dragon.

I’m not usually this horny on main but this man has got me metaphoricallyon my knees. The inside of my brain is nothing butbark, bark, bark, bark. The things I would do to haveonechance with this man!

My eyes follow him as he finishes up his run, leaping up onto the porch of cabin number 5. He puts his arms over his head, stretching. My dick is rock hard in my jeans and I just barely keep myself from rutting against the counter because I’m notthatdesperate.

It’s not until he goes inside his cabin that I finally feel myself unfreeze. I look down and find the same guy from earlier standing in front of my truck, giving me a knowing smirk.

“Sorry,” I say sheepishly. “Just umm, enjoying the beautiful view!”

“I’m sure,” he says with a chuckle. “I don’t even swing that way and even I can see the view issomething.”

I can’t help but snort with amusement. My stomach flutters with warmth as a few more people start making their way over to the truck, checking outThe Feisty Latte. “What can I get you?”

“Just a vanilla latte please.”

“You got it!”

I jump into work, making first a vanilla latte and then a caramel mocha and then a chocolate chip java frozen drink. Everyone is super nice, promising to be back in the morning for more, and even tipping me on top of their amount. I didn’t expect I would be serving many people while I was here, but I’m pleasantly surprised that so many people want to support my truck.

Once everyone has been taken care of, I grab my stool and drag it over to the window. I sit down with my phone, logging into the site I buy my supplies from and adding everything to my cart. I hear footsteps walking over so I set my phone down and look up.

Okay, what the fuck? There’s no way my mystery runner is somehowhotterclose up. This is so unfair! He’s properly clothed now but, even so, I can see he’s strong and toned with broad shoulders he could so easily toss me over and steal me away. His eyes are a piercing green that warm as he looks up at me. And oh my gods, the things I wish I could do with him from this angle.

Shit, I need to get my mind out of the gutter!

Those green eyes are staring up at me. They widen as they take me in and I do my best not to preen under his gaze.

Normally, I’m not someone who believes in fate or destiny or any of that sort of stuff. Sure, magic is real and alive. The fact that I’m a dragon is proof of that, but true love? That’s nothing more than a fairy tale that saps like to tell each other. Sure, my brothers claim to have found their true mates, but there’s gotta be an explanation for that, right?

Even as I think it, doubt swells inside of me. Did they feel the same thing I’m feeling right now? There’s something about this man that has me feeling something I can’t really describe with words. It’s like the air around the two of us is sparked with potential.
