“Whatever you feel like making,” he says, his mouth already full of berries.

“How about fettuccine alfredo with some roasted broccoli?”

“Sounds amazing. Thank you, Alaric.”

“No problem. Anything for you,” I tell him with a grin, turning around and getting to work.

“I can’t believe the nursery is already done,” Dell says between bites. “I can’t stop peeking in there every time I pass it in the hallway. It’s so adorable, Alaric.”

“I’m so pleased with how it turned out,” I say in agreement. “I can’t wait to meet our baby. I can’t believe they’re going to be here in like a month.”

“I know,” he says, rubbing his belly. “Six and a half months altogether. I’m a little jealous of humans. They get nine months to prepare!”

I chuckle fondly. “I think no matter how long you’re pregnant, you never truly feel ready until they’re here.”

“I guess you’re probably right. What a wise alpha you are. I don’t know how I’m going to feel sharing my Daddy with a baby,” he says with a giggle.

“Don’t worry, love. There’s enough Daddy to go around. I’ll always have time for you.”

“You better,” he says with a fake pout.

As I get the broccoli into the oven and the water on the stove to start boiling, I ask Dell about what he’s been working on. So far, he’s released the first two books in this series. It takes him about a month and a half to get everything fully recorded and edited. Since getting the contract, he’s been able to finish two and he’s working on book number three right now.

It’s been incredible how fast the audiobooks have become popular. Dell sometimes sees memes online and shows me. Some people are going so far as to say in order to properly experience the books, theyhaveto listen to it rather than read it themselves.

“Oh my gods! I have to tell you something!”

“Yes?”

“I’ve been invited to a convention!”

“Wait, really?”

“Yes! Charles facetimed me today so we could talk about it. He said it would be a great way to get more people excited for the audiobooks and it would be a great networking opportunity as well.”

“Jesus, Dell! That’s so amazing,” I say, making sure everything on the stove is okay before walking over to him. I kiss the top of his head. “I am so damn proud of you, I hope you know that.”

“Thank you, Alaric. I’m really proud, too. I can’t decide if I’m nervous or excited. Charles and I will share a booth and people will come to a little meet and greet so they can get stuff signed. I’m not sure they’ll even want to see me but I’ll be there!”

“They’re gonna love meeting you. I’ve seen so much stuff about how many people adore you and your performance, Dell. Plus, maybe you’ll be able to meet some people in the gaming industry as well!”

Dell nods his head. “I know I always wanted to be in a video game, but making these radio drama type audiobooks is really becoming something I love. Maybe this is more of my calling.”

“Whatever makes you happy,” I tell him, kissing him one more time.

“Thankfully, the convention is later this year so I won’t be pregnant anymore. Maybe we can make it a family vacation or something!”

“That sounds like a lovely plan. No matter what we have to do to make this happen, we’ll figure it out. This is such a big thing for you and I refuse to let you miss out on it.”

Dell gives me a sweet smile as he looks down into his bowl of berries. “You’re so good to me.”

“No less than you deserve.”

I stand by that statement; Dell deserves every good thing that comes his way. Seeing him not only succeed but also flourish has been a delight to watch. I’m so thankful I get to be in his life. I get to celebrate his success and hold him when things are down. I get to be there through the thick and thin, in sickness and in health. Things might have started off fast but now that we’re in the middle of this relationship, we’re steady and sure.

The rest of the night is filled with our usual routine. I feed my omega, give him a massage, and then help him with a bath. We make love and Dell falls asleep with my knot still locking the two of us together.

If this is how the rest of our lives go, then I will die a very, very content alpha.
