“What rehab?”

“Oh…you don’t know. He started using again after you got him fired. He was very salty about that, by the way. His dad threw him in there. Imagine my surprise when he told me all about your new life and your new name. So, I came to look for myself. I have a thing about unfinished business. I almost had you at the party, but your knight…” He motions to Ian. “He ruined the moment. Did you like the flowers?”

“Did you attack my friend?”

“The redhead? Yes. That was a message. I thought, ‘Why not have some fun?’ but she started to scream. I’ll tell you more if you want.”

“Do—”

I aim the gun between his legs and shoot. His screams fill the small space. The men around me groan in discomfort as if they got shot in the dick as well. “Goddamn, Serena.” I heard one of them say it, but I’m not sure who it was. I point the gun and puta bullet in between his eyes, then empty the magazine into his chest.

“Magnificent,” I hear from Ian’s direction. I throw the gun onto the table and walk toward Ian.

“Can we go home?”

We get home, and I go straight for the shower. I feel disgusting, and I need to be alone. I have answers, but I also have more questions. I take my time in the shower, processing everything Stephan Lars told me. I was a target; I paid a debt that wasn’t mine to pay. I pull out my phone and press the dial button. I have an army at my disposal; why not use it?

I go to look for Ian. He’s in his office facing the city skyline. He turns to me. “You were magnificent today. I knew you were lethal, but that was beyond anything I could have imagined.” His words wash over me and set my skin on fire. I don’t feel any remorse about today. If anything, it brought me peace to know I don’t ever have to worry about that man.

“I don’t feel like talking.” I slowly move toward the chaise lounge by the bookcase. I feel bold, so I untie my robe and let it fall to the ground. I take a seat, and he stands in place. I spread my legs to show him how much I want him.

“Get on your knees,” I order. Without hesitating, he lowers himself to his knees. I massage my breasts, pinching my nipples. I see the hunger in his eyes. “Be a good boy and crawl to me. This pussy is aching to be worshipped by your tongue."

“Fuuucck” is his only reply. The power I have over this man makes me feel alive. He crawls to me. I feel so strong. A queen commanding her knight, no, her king. When he reaches me, he looks at my new scar and gently kisses it. He puts both my legs over his shoulders and immediately starts to move his tongue inside me. Fuck, he knows how to drive me wild. He knows exactly what I want. I look at him as he works his wicked tongue. Leaning back, I enjoy being feasted on. I tug on his hair and buck my hips. I’m so close. I know he can feel it. He spreads me wide. I moan his name, encouraging him. Fuck, fuck.

“Ian.” I detonate. He licks me clean, pulling himself up, and I kiss him. I love tasting myself on him. I hold his face in my hands. “Ian, I love you. Thank you for loving me when I felt unlovable. For not giving up on me.” He leans his forehead on mine.

“That's all I’ve wanted. To be worthy of your love.” He carries me to our bedroom, and we spend the night in each other’s arms, not fucking, but loving each other.

This morning I’m filled with anticipation. I slip out of Ian’s grasp and quickly change into comfortable clothes. Last night I told him I'd be attending an early kickboxing class. I lied. I look at my phone to check the location I requested. Gus is still recovering, so I drive myself. It takes me twenty minutes to arrive at the first address. Once I pick up what I need, I make my way to my final destination. I pull up to a rundown building. I take in my surroundings and make sure no one sees me. I arrive at the apartment number that was sent to me, and I knock.

Byran Carson opens the door. The look on his face says it all. “Ser-Serena, what are you doing here?”

“Hello, Byran, can I come in?” He looks behind me to check if I’m alone.

“Y-yeah, come in.”

This place is a shithole. Beer bottles are everywhere. Takeout containers are lying throughout the apartment. I look at the man who's responsible for what happened to me. He looks frightful. The man I saw at the gala no longer exists; actually, I don’t think he ever did. I’m not going to beat around the bush.

“I know everything, Byran."

“Serena, I don’t know what you think you know.” He walks toward the door, ready to kick me out.

This is my chance. With his back to me, I pull out my syringe from my hoodie and stab him in the neck with it. Then I empty its contents into his body. I hurry and pick up my phone and wait. Fifteen minutes later, I hear a knock on the door.

The phone on my nightstand rings. I knew the space next to me on the bed would be empty. Serena was going to an early kickboxing class. So when I see her calling, I immediately panic.

“Baby, is everything all right?”

“Yes.” She hesitates.

“I’m going to send you an address. Can you head over?”

“What’s going on?”

“I’ll explain when you get here.” She hangs up, and moments later, an address is delivered. It’s a location I'm very familiar with.

My cousin has a couple of places where he does his dirty work. He has a particular favorite. It’s located behind the family gun range. Right where I find Serena waiting for me, and next to her is Damon. I turn off the car and make my way to her.
