Jane’s hands slipped down to the clasp on Rosalind’s trousers and unhooked them, letting them slip to the floor. Rosalind stepped out of them, gently moving Jane toward the bed as she stood in her underwear. Jane gasped at the sight. The muscles in Rosalind’s legs rippled with tension, taut and defined. Rosalind reached behind her and unclasped her bra, allowing it to slip to the ground. Jane reached out and touched her collarbones, tracing her fingers slowly across Rosalind’s chest. She pulled her close and kissed her again, running her fingers up the warm skin on Rosalind’s back. The room started to spin again as desire flashed through her, and suddenly she couldn’t get close enough. She needed Rosalind’s skin against her own. She needed the friction between her legs that she desired so heavily.

Before she realized it, Rosalind’s hands were all over her, lifting her dress above her head and then removing her bra. She fell back onto the bed wearing panties and heels, and Rosalind dropped to her knees on the edge. She slipped Jane’s panties down her legs, caressing each thigh as she did. Jane pulled at her, she wanted to feel her against her skin, her weight on top of her. As though Rosalind could read her mind, she climbed onto the bed with her, spreading her legs wide and settling herself between them.

Jane pulled Rosalind’s panties down over her thighs and Rosalind kicked them to the floor. Jane wrapped her legs around Rosalind’s waist and ground herself into Rosalind, needing her close. As Rosalind kissed her, Jane reached over into her nightstand and pulled out a long silicon shaft with a strap,Rosalind pulled back and looked between the erotic toy and Jane with a grin. Jane lifted an eyebrow and Rosalind caught the hint. Jane took the opportunity to caress Rosalind’s breasts as she attached the shaft to herself, and Jane assisted by slipping the smaller secondary shaft inside Rosalind, and when she felt how wet and ready Rosalind was for her, fire shot through her veins.

Rosalind slowly pushed the shaft inside Jane, gasping with pleasure as it rubbed against her as well. Rosalind took a handful of Jane’s hair and sunk the shaft into her as deep as she could. Jane gasped and moaned at the pressure, at the stretch the shaft created, at the excitement of having Rosalind’s fingers buried in her hair. Rosalind pulled back and thrust again, and Jane released a moan of pleasure that only urged Rosalind deeper. She pulled Rosalind close, creating contact with her skin as much as possible. She clawed at her back as Rosalind thrust into her again and again, gasping with pleasure.

A shock of cold whipped across her as Rosalind suddenly pulled away. Fear pulsed through her, and her eyes flew open. Rosalind’s eyes were dark and hungry, she grabbed Jane’s hips and turned her onto her stomach, burying her face in the pillow. She lifted Jane’s hips upward until her ass was in the air, and Jane’s heart thudded against her chest. Her opening was hot and wet as Rosalind thrust the shaft deep into her from behind, and Jane cried out in pleasure. Rosalind thrust into her again and again, the skin of her thighs slapping against Jane’s ass as she pounded into her. Rosalind cried out in a guttural growl that was almost feral as she thrust into Jane again and again and the tension in Jane’s core spiraled upward.

Jane cried out again, almost screaming in pleasure and pain as Rosalind pounded into her until the tension exploded in a wave of pleasure that washed over her, causing her to become dizzy with ecstasy. She became tighter, wetter, and screamed in pleasure as the waves washed through her over and over againwith each thrust. Suddenly, Rosalind’s rhythm stuttered and she let out a cry of pleasure and fell on top of Jane’s back as the orgasm washed over her. Rosalind rolled to the side and Jane turned to face her. Rosalind’s face was red and flustered, her breath heaving almost as hard as Jane’s.

Jane kissed her briefly as they both tried to catch their breath. Rosalind detached the shaft from herself and tried to toss it into the floor, but Jane caught it. Heat flooded through her again as she felt how warm it was in her hand. She turned to Rosalind and gauged the expression on her face; it was dark and hungry. Jane licked the shaft, tasting herself on it, and Rosalind’s eyes darkened further. She strapped the shaft to herself, and slipped the smaller one into her own core, shivering at her sensitivity. Rosalind kissed her, hard. Despite having the best orgasm of her life only a few moments ago, heat rushed through her again. She rolled Rosalind onto her back and pushed her thighs open, revealing Rosalind’s swollen, wet core. Jane leaned down and ran her tongue across Rosalind’s clit, savoring the taste of her as she climbed on top. Rosalind assisted with aligning the shaft with her opening, and Jane plunged it deep into her.

Rosalind cried out it pleasure, and Jane’s own heat soared. She leaned down and kissed Rosalind’s chest, taking each nipple into her mouth as she slowly thrust into Rosalind again and again. The pleasure heightened, and Jane knew she wouldn’t last much longer without another orgasm barreling through her. She thrust again, and Rosalind began to convulse beneath her. Jane pounded into her, driving the orgasm to its absolute peak as Rosalind screamed in pleasure before the waves took Jane again. She pushed into Rosalind, slowing with each thrust as the pleasure washed over her. Finally, they subsided, and she rolled to Rosalind’s side. This time the shaft made it to the floor and Rosalind pulled Jane’s naked body close to her.

Between the sex and the alcohol, Jane’s eyes began to grow heavy, and the warmth of Rosalind lulled her into a state of relaxation she wasn’t sure she’d ever felt before. She felt Rosalind’s breathing begin to even out, and she snuggled closer to her.

“I’m falling in love with you, Rosalind,” Jane whispered, certain that Rosalind was already asleep. Rosalind murmured something in response, but Jane couldn’t comprehend it. She just wanted this moment to last forever. She closed her eyes and dropped into a deep sleep

Jane’s head felt fuzzy as her eyes finally fluttered open. She could smell the steam from a recent shower, but most everything else was a blur. She rolled over, Rosalind was gone. Flashes of the night before began to flood her mind, and the empty bed was suddenly cold. Jane got up and looked around, aside from the pair of margarita glasses on the table, there was nothing to indicate that Rosalind had even been there. The warm fuzzy feeling of the night before was slowly giving way to something more empty and painful. Why would she just leave like that?

There had to be some explanation, Jane told herself. After the night they’d shared, Rosalind couldn’t just walk away, could she? Jane fought off the paranoia with annoyance. She’d probably been called to the hospital. Jane grabbed her phone and checked the messages, but there was nothing more than the usual reminders for charts and deadlines. Still, nothing to worry about, Rosalind just wasn’t as touchy as Jane. Everything was going to be fine.

Jane took a quick shower and dressed herself for work. At least the bathroom showed some evidence of another person. Itwas obvious that Rosalind had taken a shower before she left, so that was probably it. She’d been called in and just didn’t have time to say anything. She chose one of her favorite outfits. It was slightly more appropriate for work than the blue dress, but still made her feel sexy when she wore it. A similar shade of blue, it was a skirt and blouse set that made her want to put her hair in a bun and wear sexy glasses. She almost giggled at herself for thinking that way.

After applying her make-up, she headed into the hospital. She was a bit early, and she tried to convince herself that it was because she had things she needed to do, that it had nothing to do with Rosalind. The walk there was refreshing. She found herself fantasizing about a future with Rosalind, despite knowing that it was unlikely. By the time she made it to the hospital, she had a smile on her face.

The hospital was quiet as usual, only a couple of people in the waiting room, family members, maybe. Jane went to her office and started tapping away at the computer. Rosalind would be there at any moment to greet her, she was sure of it, but over an hour passed, and she didn’t hear anything. No messages, no visits, nothing at all. She was starting to feel anxious about it all, so she decided to just go and find out. She pulled on her lab coat and headed down to the ICU, where she finally found Rosalind sitting with her parents. Relief washed through Jane at the sight. Of course, she left early for her father. She smiled and pushed through the door.

“Good morning, Robert,” she said as she knocked.

“Good morning,” he answered, though it was labored. Jane’s chest tightened; he wouldn’t last much longer.

“Good morning, Rosalind, Mrs. Maxwell,” Jane said and picked up Robert’s chart.

“Good morning, Doctor Roberts,” Rosalind said, and Jane adjusted her coat. That seemed formal. She glanced over at Rosalind, but she wouldn’t meet Jane’s gaze.

Jane’s skin prickled, but this was not the time or place for any sort of conversation like that, so she carried on with her work. She checked over Robert’s charts and gave them all a courteous dismissal before leaving the room. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off with Rosalind, though, and she doubted it had anything to do with Jane’s father.

Jane continued her rounds, checking in on her patients. Nothing much had happened overnight, and everyone was recovering nicely. There were at least two that would likely be discharged today. She charted the information and carried on with her business, forcing any thoughts of Rosalind or the night they’d shared from her mind.

She felt it when Rosalind entered the ER. She looked up to see her coming through the doors, her eyes flicked over to Jane, but left just as quickly. Jane was struggling not to take offense; she could have spoken to her at least. Give her some indication that last night had meant something to her also. Jane didn’t want excuses, but anything would be better than this. Frustrated with herself more than anything, she caught up to Rosalind at the door of one of the patient’s rooms.

“Hey,” she said with a forced smile.

“Hey,” Rosalind nodded a greeting and tried to push past her, which only annoyed Jane that much more.

“Do you want to grab a coffee in the cafeteria?” Jane asked, blocking Rosalind’s path.

Rosalind’s lips were pressed in irritation when she finally met Jane’s eyes. “I can’t.”

Jane’s heart flip-flopped in her chest. What the hell was going on?

“It doesn’t have to be right now,” Jane said, her voice catching.

“I’m sorry,” Rosalind said and pushed past her. “I really just can’t.” Rosalind continued walking down the hall without looking back. Jane could see the tension in her shoulders, but there was nothing left for Jane to excuse—that was a dismissal, and she had been a one-night stand. The only problem with this one is that now she had to see Rosalind, at least until she decided to leave. Hopefully, that would be sooner rather than later, Jane thought, then chastised herself for it. Anger flooded through her. And shame.

Quickly, before emotion could take over, Jane headed to her office where she could hide for a while and process this. She felt hurt, used, betrayed. She’d enjoyed her time with Rosalind, and not just the sex. She’d felt a connection with Rosalind that she’d never experienced before, and now she felt stupid. Obviously, Rosalind wasn’t as into her, as into them. Jane practically kicked herself for the fantastical thoughts of a future with her. Rosalind had practically told her the night before that she wouldn’t be the same tomorrow, she’d just disguised it with what looked like profound insight based on her experiences overseas. Jane couldn’t believe how gullible she’d been. This was all so embarrassing. Tears slipped from her eyes, but she refused to let them overwhelm her. This was not her fault, it was Rosalind’s, and Jane was not about to let Rosalind dictate her life or her emotions, and she sure as hell wasn’t going to spend the day crying in her office over it.
