“I love you, Chloe. I’ve never said those words to a woman before,” he admitted. “But I can’t hide from the truth forever.”
He touched his forehead to hers when he saw tears spring into her eyes, wrapping his arms around her and rolling sideways with her pressed tight against him.
“What does it mean? For us?”
“It means that any bullshit agreement we had about our relationship is over,” he told her. “No more running, no more pretending like this is just about sex.”
“But…”
He raised a finger to Chloe’s lips, silencing her. “No more questions. We’re together and that’s the end of it.”
Chloe smiled, her eyes shining.
“I love you, Chloe Rivers, and I’m not letting you walk away from me again.” He kissed her lips, running a hand down her back, touching her soft skin.
“I’m not giving up my life for you,” she whispered. “I can’t just…”
“Shhh,” he murmured, shaking his head. “Do you want to be with anyone else?”
“No!”
“Then that’s all I give a damn about. You can do whatever you like, so long as it’s my bed and my bed only that you fall into each night.”
She kissed him and nipped his lower lip. “That goes both ways, Mr. King.”
He growled against her mouth. “Bite me again and you’ll regret it.”
“Tell me you agree,” she countered.
“There’s no other woman I want in my bed and you know it.”
She cupped the back of his head and pulled him closer. “Then I think we can come to some sort of arrangement.”
“Damn right we can,” he said against her mouth.
Chloe pulled back. “Are you sure you’re allowed to be doing this? I mean, shouldn’t you still be in the hospital? Should you be resting?”
“Uh-uh,” he replied, leaving her mouth and making his way slowly down her neck, then her chest with his lips, sucking the soft spot between her breasts until she moaned. “It just so happens this is exactly what my doctor told me to do.”
“Oh yeah?” she managed as she sucked in a sharp breath.
Ryder nudged the lace of her bra aside and closed his mouth over a nipple. “Yeah.”
“I was right about you all along, Ryder,” Chloe said with a giggle. “Youarea devil, but at least you’re mine.”
