“I’m sorry about Rascal,”Minx says to me as we walk up to her house.
“Don’t be. He’s like that all the time,” I admit.
She sighs. “Some of these guys never know when not to be assholes. You seem to be able to hold your own pretty well, though.”
“What can I say? He makes it so easy.”
Minx laughs. “I’ve never known anyone, especially a woman, to get under his skin like you do.”
“Don’t put too much thought into it. It’s only because I won’t sleep with him.”
Chains snickers behind us.
“Good for you! His arrogant ass needs a dose of reality. Too many women treat him like he’s a gift from the gods,” Minx says.
“I need some fucking earplugs when I’m around y’all. I should not be listening to this,” Chains says. Minx and I both laugh.
“No one said you had to,” Minx pokes at him.
He shakes his head but doesn’t say anything else.
“I’ve met plenty of men like him. I’m immune to his charm,” I tell her. We walk up the steps of her house, stopping before going inside.
“Chains, why don’t you hang out on the porch, so you don’t have to be tortured with more girl talk,” I suggest. Minx giggles next to me.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.” He moves a couple chairs around, then flops down into one and kicking his feet up on the other.
“Sure, make yourself comfy,” Minx mutters, rolling her eyes. I shake my head with a smile.
We walk inside and into the living room. There are blankets and pillows everywhere. Netflix is pulled up on the TV, and Rivet, Wren, and Sienna are lounging around, messing with their phones.
“What are you hookers doing?” Minx says. All three of them turn to look at us.
“Marley! You came!” Wren hops up and walks over to me.
“This one here dragged me out of the clubhouse to come hang out.” I tease, gesturing to Minx. Wren’s eyes go wide. “I’m kidding. She didn’t have to drag me. I came on my own free will.”
Minx, Rivet, and Sienna all giggle.
“Oh, so you’re sarcastic like Sienna. This will be fun.” Wren smirks.
“Then we’ll get along great.” I wink at them. “So, what kind of take-out are we getting?”
“We can use FoodDash and get something from multiple places,” Rivet suggests.
“I like the way you think!” I grin.
We brainstorm what foods we want from where when Tink walks in.
“Y’all started this shindig without me?” She pretends to pout.
“Nah, bitch, we’re just getting started.” I stick my tongue out at her. “Where’s Lo?”
“She picked up a shift at Big Shots. Said something about needing the money.” Tink shrugs. “What are we doing first?”
