Dieseland I are lounging around, watchingOzarkand waiting for Tink to get home. Since I’ve admitted my feelings, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I’m free to finally be one hundred percent myself and let people see the real me. Between Tink and Diesel, they’ve given me the courage to not care what anyone thinks. The three of us belong together and as long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters.
Diesel throws his legs on the couch and lays his head on my lap, making himself comfy. I run my fingers through his short, curly hair. It’s shaved short on the sides with the top long enough for the curls. The perfect length to grab onto. All I can think about is kissing his lips. I slide my hand down his chest and brush it back up.
He sits up, turning to face me. Lust fills his eyes. He moves closer, bringing his lips to mine. It’s a light kiss, shy almost. He starts to pull away but I grab his face, crashing our lips together. His hand slides into my hair as the kiss heats up. Fighting for dominance with our tongues, I can’t help but wonder who would end up dominate in the bedroom.
One of our phones vibrates on the coffee table, bringing us out of our little bubble and into the real world. Diesel picks up his phone, answering the call. I check mine to see if Tink has texted again, but there’s nothing. I realize it’s been over an hour since she texted saying she was going to the store. After a couple of minutes, Diesel hangs up his phone and sets it on the table again.
“Hey, shouldn’t Tink be home by now,” I ask him.
His eyebrows knit together. “Yeah, she should.”
I pick up my phone and dial her number. It goes straight to voicemail.
“That’s not good,” I mutter. “Straight to voicemail.”
“Fuck.” He stands from the couch. “I’m gonna get dressed and go by the store and hospital.”
“What do you expect to find?”
“I don’t know.” He lets out a heavy sigh. “Somethin’ doesn’t feel right though.”
“You’re right, it doesn’t,” I agree. “You go, I’ll stay here in case she shows up.”
“That’s a good idea.” He heads back to the bedroom to change. I send Tech a text to see if he’s available to talk.
“I’ll be back,” Diesel tells me as he walks toward the door.
“Be safe,” I call out. He pauses before opening the door and walks over to me. He gives me a chaste kiss. When he pulls away, my lips are buzzing. “What was that for?”
“Since when do I need a reason to kiss you?” He smirks. “I’ll call you if I find anything.”
With that, he walks out the door. My phone buzzes in my hand.
From Tech:What can I do for you?
To Tech:Can you track Tink’s phone? See if you can find out where she was last? I’ll explain later.
From Tech:You got it, bro. Text you deets soon.
I should have known things were too good to be true. Something was bound to happen to screw things up for us. I can’t be alone right now. I’m going to end up getting lost. I call Kicks.
“Whaddup?” He says when he answers.
“Somethin’ is goin’ on with Tink. Her phone is goin’ straight to voicemail,” I tell him. “Diesel went to see if he could find her.”
“And you’re alone and in your head?”
I chuckle. This fucker knows me too well. “Yeah.”
“I’ll be there in ten.”
I toss my phone onto the coffee table and try to focus onOzarkuntil Kicks gets here. While I’m waiting, my phone lights up. Diesel’s name flashes on the screen.
“Hey. Find anything?”
