“Do what you gotta do, Goddess,” he tells me with a smile.
I walk into the bathroom and take a look at my reflection. My eyes are puffy and red, showing that I’ve been crying. This is no way to show myself in front of the club. I take a washcloth from the cabinet under the sink and soak it with cold water. I dab it on my face, holding it over my eyes for a couple minutes to try to get the swollenness down. I lower the washcloth and check the progress.
“Much better,” I mutter to myself. I walk back out to Bull.
“Beautiful as always, darlin’,” he tells me. He holds his hand out to me. I take two steps, put my hand in his and he pulls me, so I’m standing between his legs. “I’ll stay by your side as long as you need me to out there.”
I cup his face in my hands, lightly scratching my fingers through his beard and kiss his lips.
“Thank you, Jase. For everything,” I tell him.
He stands from the bed and together, we walk to the main room. When we don’t find anyone there, he takes me to some doors that lead to the back of the clubhouse. There are some picnic tables and lawn chairs scattered about. Some of the brothers are playing yard games, while some are sitting around talking. A few brothers are at the grill, cooking whatever meats the prospects bought at the store.
“Athena! Come sit with us!” Tink calls out to me. I look up to Bull.
“Go ahead. I’ll stay within eyesight,” he assures me.
I give his hand a squeeze before letting go to walk over to Tink and Minx.
“How are you today?” Tink asks me.
“A little hungry, but other than that, good,” I chuckle.
“Ugh, not me,” says Minx.
“I’m starved. Diesel said the food will be ready any minute. When it is, all women and kids get first dibs,” Tink explains to me. “If we didn’t, the men would eat it all before we even had a chance.”
I laugh. “I believe that wholeheartedly.”
“I’ll be back in a few,” Tink says. “I need to go talk to Diesel and Hollywood.”
Once Tink is out of earshot, I turn to Minx. “How are you feeling?”
“I’ve been better.” She gives a small laugh.
“How far along are you?” I ask.
“What? How . . . How did you . . .?”
“It was just a guess at first. But after watching you the past few days, I’ve picked up on some signs,” I explain to her.
“I’m about three months, but I just found out this week,” she tells me. “Raze is the only one who knows right now.”
“I won’t say anything,” I promise her.
“Thank you. We plan to make an announcement soon, but there’s been a lot of things going on this weekend,” she says.
“I understand that. There’s nothing wrong with waiting to tell people,” I assure her.
“Do you want kids?” she asks me.
“When I was with my ex, I would have said no,” I tell her. “He’s not a man who should reproduce. But now, I’m not sure. I guess if it were to happen, it happens. How would you feel if I had a kid with your dad?”
“You make him happy. He hasn’t had that in a very long time. If havin’ a baby with you is what he wants, I would be completely okay with that,” she says, smiling and laughs. “Though I won’t lie, it would be weird to have a sibling that’s my own kid’s age.”
“I could see how that would be strange.” I laugh, glancing around to find Bull watching me. He smiles when my eyes find his. I blow him an air kiss. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice the cut bunny from yesterday is walking toward Bull.
“What the hell isshedoing here?” I ask. “I thought this was a family thing.”
