She hands me some paper towels and I wipe my stomach off while staring at the pictures.
“Thank you so much,” I say to her.
“Of course. If you have any questions or concerns, call me.” She hands me a card with her number on it. On the back, she’d written her cell phone number. “And I’ll see you next month.”
With that, she leaves. I sit there for a couple minutes, both dumbfounded that I didn’t realize I was pregnant and amazed that I am. I finally gather myself enough to leave the room. I put the pictures in my purse and walk out, stopping to schedule an appointment for next month then leave the building.
Diesel is standing outside, waiting for me. Bull had insisted he bring me to my appointment so he knew I would be safe.
“Is everything alright?” Diesel asks me.
“Everything is more than alright,” I tell him, grinning. “It’s perfect.”
Once we’re back at the clubhouse, I head straight for mine and Bull’s room.
“Hey, Goddess.” His face lights up when I walk in.
“Hey, honey. How are you feeling?” I ask him.
“I’m tired of layin’ in this goddamn bed,” he tells me. “When the hell are you gonna let me out?”
“If you’re really feeling up to it, we can go sit in the main room for a little bit,” I say. He gives me a Cheshire cat grin. “Only for a little bit! You still need to rest.”
“Okay, okay. A little bit is better than not at all,” he laughs. “So, how did your appointment go? What’d the doc say?”
“Um, well . . .” I glance down, trying to hide my smile.
“What? Is it bad?” he asks, concern lacing his voice.
I pull the sonogram pictures out of my purse and hand them to him. “I’m pregnant! Seven weeks.”
“What?” His face nearly splits in half with how big he’s smiling. His eyes come to mine. “You’re pregnant. I’m gonna be a dad again. Woah!”
He laughs, making me giggle. “Yeah, you are.”
He pulls me into his chest and kisses me. I try not to put too much weight on him, knowing he’s still in pain.
“I fuckin’ love you, Goddess,” he tells me, cupping my face in his hand and resting his forehead against mine.
“I love you too.”
Chapter Thirty-Six
Bull
Athena helps me out of bed so I can get a change of scenery. I got shot in my right shoulder and according to her and my nurse, Annie, I’m not allowed to use my right arm at all. Not that I really want to anyway. It hurts like a son of a bitch, but I won’t dare admit that to Athena. I try to avoid even taking pain medicine. Some nights I have no choice, or the pain keeps me up all night.
Athena tried to insist she sleep in her own bed until I’m fully healed, but I shut that shit down real quick. My left side ain’t hurt, and I need to feel her by my side, or I’ll have nightmares. I dream I don’t get to her in time and Kevin shoots her in front of me. It’s enough to jolt me awake, which in turn irritates the fuck out of my shoulder. If she’s next to me, I’m nightmare-free all night.
The main room is half full of a mix of brothers and their Ol’ Ladies. It’s good to see everyone in such high spirits now that the cartel has been taken care of.
“Why the hell ain’t y’all fuckers workin’ at the shop?” I shout. It’s about lunchtime, so I know they’re just takin’ their breaks, but it’s still fun to fuck with them.”
“Well, look who decided to rejoin the land of the livin’,” Gunner teases. I had that comin’.
Unless the brothers come to my room to see me, I don’t get to see anyone but Athena, Minx, and Annie. Raze and Ranger are both handlin’ my Prez duties for the time being, so they stop in every so often to let me know what’s what.
“Go to Hades, asshole,” I shoot back. Athena shakes her head beside me. A small smile plays on her lips.
