“What are you hungry for?” Bull asks me.
“I’m not picky,” I say as we walk into the kitchen. He looks in the fridge, scratching his head, then checks the pantry.
“Well, shit,” he mutters. “Looks like I need to send the prospects to the store. How’s pizza sound?”
I laugh. “Pizza is fine.”
“I’ll get Minx and Tink to make a grocery list,” he says. “In the meantime, I’ll order a few pizzas. Do you have any preferences?”
“I can help them with groceries and cooking,” I offer, even though I’m not the best cook. “And no, no preference. I like it all.”
We walk out of the kitchen and Bull gestures for me to sit at the bar while he grabs his phone. Minx walks over to us and sits next to me.
“Is everything okay?” she asks.
“Yeah, he’s ordering some pizza,” I tell her. “He mentioned something about having the prospects go get groceries?”
“Oh, yeah. That would be a good idea,” she says with a laugh.
“If you need any help making a list, I don’t mind helping,” I say.
“That would be awesome, thanks,” Minx replies. “Tink’s pregnant ass will probably be takin’ a nap soon.”
“Aw, how far along is she?”
“A couple of months. She’s having twins.” Her face lights up with excitement.
“That’s amazing.” I smile. “What about you? Do you have or want kids?”
“I don’t have any, but would definitely like some one day,” she admits.
“Pizza will be here in twenty minutes,” Bull tells us.
“Great! Minx and I can go work on the grocery list until then,” I suggest.
“Yeah, those prospects need something to do,” she adds. She nudges my arm. “Let’s go!”
“Could you let us know when the pizza is here?” I ask Bull. He nods with a grin. I wink and hop off my chair, following Minx back into the kitchen.
She grabs a notepad and pen out of one of the drawers then turns to me. “Do you wanna start with the fridge or the pantry?”
“Pantry,” I tell her. We move to the pantry and take a look at what they have.
“So, I know you and my dad just met, but do you want something with him? Or do you just need help?” she asks.
“Honestly? I’d really like to get to know him more,” I tell her. “He’s attractive and he’s such a great guy.”
“He really is. He deserves a good woman,” Minx says. “What do you think of the club life?”
“That’s something I haven’t really thought of,” I admit. “I really know nothing about it.”
“I grew up in the life. I spent a couple years away when one of my brothers passed away. Other than that, it’s all I’ve known,” she explains. “Shortly after I came back, I started datin’ one of the guys, Raze. There are times he can’t tell me something that’s club business. Or sometimes he has to go on club runs and will be gone for a few days. It’s great though, because the club is like one big family. We have cookouts every Sunday and everyone comes. It can be as tough on them as it is on us, but all we can do is be there for them and love them. Ya know?”
“That doesn’t sound too bad,” I say.
“I wouldn’t trade this life for anything,” she tells me.
We go about making the grocery list, laughing and making small talk. I’m glad I got a chance to talk and spend time with Minx.
