Now, I’m having coffee and talking with some of the Ol’ Ladies. I’ve spent a lot of time with them while Bull has worked and handled club business all week. They’ve been so accepting of me. I’ve told them bits and pieces of my past and what brought me here. I haven’t felt judged one bit by any of them.

I take a sip of my coffee. “Can I ask you ladies something?”

“You just did,” Sienna teases with a smirk.

“Ha-ha,” I reply with an eye roll and a smile. All the ladies are sassy in their own way, but Sienna likes to be extra sarcastic. It makes talking with her fun.

“What’s up?” Marley asks.

“What does it mean to be these guys’ Ol’ Ladies?” I question.

“Why? Did Bull ask you to be his?” Sienna asks, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“No, but last night before we uh . . .” I pause, looking to Minx and choose my next words carefully, “before we went back to his room, he said if we did what we did, I would be his. This morning, he mentioned wanting to talk about it, but that was it.”

“I know he’s my dad, but you can still say y’all had sex,” Minx laughs out. “I’m a big girl. I can handle it.”

Before I respond, she grabs her stomach.

“Shit,” she groans. “I’ll be right back.”

She jumps off the couch and hurries down the hallway. I eye her suspiciously until she’s out of sight. Working in a hospital, I’ve picked up on some things.

“Okay, so not that I want to know details,” Sienna cuts off my thoughts, “but how was the sex?”

“Amazing! Seriously the best sex I’veeverhad,” I gush, leaving out the part where he gave me not one, and not two, butfiveorgasms all night. If this doesn’t work out between us, I’ll be ruined for any guy after him.

“He may be older, but he’s got better stamina than guys my age,” I add.

“Woowee! Who knew Prez had it in him?” Marley laughs. My cheeks heat up.

“Anyway, back to your question. Bein’ an Ol’ Lady is a big commitment. We are our men’s rocks, their biggest supporters. Me bein’ Shade’s Ol’ Lady, I wear his property patch. You might not like the sound of that, but it’s not how it sounds. The men in this club treat women with the utmost respect and treat their Ol’ Ladies like goddamn queens. The property patches are more to protect us. It lets everyone know not to fuck with us, or they’ll be fuckin’ with the club,” Sienna explains.

“Bein’ the Prez’s Ol’ Lady is bigger than bein’ a patched in member’s. The brothers and us Ol’ Ladies will look to you for advice and guidance, kinda like a mama bear. Some will watch you with a very critical eye,” Marley adds.

“You’ll need to be strong and soft all at the same time. Be his rock, but be his escape. As his Ol’ Lady, you’re an extension of him, but still need to hold your own,” Sienna says. “It’s a tough job bein’ an Ol’ Lady yet so rewarding. These Savages make it worth every second of it.”

Everything they say hits me like a ton of bricks, causing a tightness in my chest. That’s a lot of pressure for one woman. Am I strong enough to be his Ol’ Lady? To be in this life with him? I’ve only been here for a week, but I can’t imagine going back to my mundane life. Plus, there’s no way I could go back to living how I was. Not with Kevin out there still looking for me.

“Another plus side to bein’ an Ol’ Lady is you get the whole club as your extended family. All the brothers will protect you no matter what,” Marley throws in as an afterthought.

“It’s hard to imagine myself being strong enough for this life,” I admit. My eyes fall to the floor, wanting to avoid eye contact with either of them. “Especially after everything with my ex.”

“Girl, we’ve all been there, doubtin’ our own strength. Even Minx, who has been in this club her whole life,” Sienna tells me. “Talk to her some time about how you’re feelin’ and I’m sure she’ll share with you.”

Just then, Minx comes walking back into the main room. Her face is paler than it was before.

“I think I’m gonna go take a nap before everyone comes over later,” she says.

“You feelin’ alright?” Sienna asks her.

“Yeah, I think I’m catchin’ a tummy bug or something,” she tells her. I’m not so sure that’s what it is, though. “I’ll see y’all tonight for the fights.”

“Sounds good. Get some rest,” Marley says.

These women barely know me, yet they’re more supportive than friends I had known for years.

“You know, stick with Bull and he could definitely help heal you. The men in this club have a way of givin’ their women some of their strength and confidence,” Marley tells me. “One thing’s for sure, they may be stubborn as hell, but they sure know how to love their women. Just give it some time. You’ll see.”
