I rose to one hand, tweaking her nipple with the other before dragging it down to circle her clit. Her head rolled to the side, eyes squeezing shut as her voice rose. “Jase.Jase. Oh God—” A tremble rolled through her, and then her muscles locked, back arching, mouth open, the pulsing of her perfect heat severing the last of my restraint.

“Fuck.” I braced myself on both hands, snapping my hips, white flashing before my eyes as I buried myself in her and spilled into the condom. My arms gave out, and I collapsed on top of her, managing to hold myself up enough to not completely crush her.

When I’d caught my breath enough to form words, I asked, “Are you okay?”

She blew out a breath that turned into a chuckle, light and free, her belly moving against mine. It ended with a sigh. “I’m amazing.”

I smiled against her neck. “Yeah?” I lifted my head so I could meet her eyes.

Relaxed features gazed back at me, almost drowsy, a grin lighting up her face. She bit her lip as if to contain it and nodded.

“Amazing enough that you’d want to stay the night?” I asked.

“That depends.” She traced a finger over my shoulder. “Will there be breakfast in the morning?”

My lips rose higher. “Any requests?”

She gazed up at me through long, dark lashes. “Surprise me.”

I pressed my lips to hers once, then again, kissing her softly before finally pulling out. “Be right back.”

On my way to the bathroom, I spotted Baxter at his water bowl. I shot him a wink of gratitude for the privacy. The guy had a fresh tuna treat headed his way.

When I returned to the bedroom, Dani stretched from the bed and crossed to the door, rising on her toes to press a kiss to my cheek. “My turn.”

“I have an extra toothbrush you can use.”

She shot a smirk over her shoulder. “No need. I came prepared.”

I fought a grin. Of course, she had.

She returned a few minutes later without any makeup and crawled into bed beside me. I almost got hard all over again. I’d seen her without makeup before, but this felt different. How even now that we’d slept together, she didn’t feel the need to hide, no matter how thin the mask.

A perfect calm washed through me as we sank into the pillows, her head on my chest. I tried to think of the right thing to say to encapsulate this feeling seeping into every part of me, but no words did it justice.

Before I could get anything out, her limbs grew heavy and her breath slowed into the steady rhythm of sleep. It looked like I’d just have to show her instead.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Dani

Morning greetedme with a hard chest at my back and a warm bundle pressed to the curve of my stomach. Eyes still closed, I reached out and encountered soft fur. A purr rumbled to life, rolling its way up my torso.

“Morning, Baxter,” I mumbled.

The body behind me shifted, and soft lips pressed to the back of my neck. “Do I get a ‘good morning,’ too?”

I smiled, the low gravel of Jase’s sleep-heavy voice washing over me like warm honey. His erection pressed against my ass, and I nudged my hips backward just a little, his groan lifting the corners of my mouth higher.

“Certainly feels good,” I said.

He let out a low hum and brushed his hand down my side, his palm gliding over my thigh and back up to rest in the dip of my waist. “How’d you sleep?”

I let out a deep sigh. “So good.”

As soon as my head had hit the pillow—the pillow being Jase’s deliciously firm chest—I’d beenout. Even now, my body was fully relaxed, my muscles loose and languid. More notably, my mind was quiet. The incessant chatter usually rattling off my to-do list the second I woke was blissfully silent, and the quickly mounting stress that accompanied it was absent as well.

Did everyone know the cure to anxiety was really good sex? If not, studies needed to be conducted and official research published because it felt goddamn groundbreaking to me.
