Her eyes were low, evident that she enjoyed the wine.

“I am. I like you, Franklin.” She did that blush thing she always did.

I leaned forward with my elbows on the table. I only had two glasses of wine since I had to drive us home. I wasn’t tipsy at all, but I felt a slight buzz.

“Stay the night with me.” I lowered my voice even more. “So I can fuck you until you fall asleep and wake you up with my head between your legs.”

Her breath hitched as we stared into each other’s eyes for long seconds. The wine had me feeling some type of way and I couldn’t wait to show her.

I licked my lips, waiting for her answer, but as soon as she opened her mouth, I heard a voice that I least expected to hear.

“Franklin.”

“Mother.”

Chapter

Fifteen

Junicia

Franklinand the wine had me ready to take him to his car and get the party started early. That was until his mother showed up. It was weird how his whole demeanor changed. I didn’t expect him to continue talking sexually to me, but he looked like he dreaded seeing her.

“I didn’t expect to see you here, dear. And who is this?” She turned her nose up at me when she faced me.

I wanted to gag at the smell of her perfume. I didn’t know what it was, but it didn’t go well with her natural scent. The shit stunk to me.

Franklin looked uncomfortable as hell, so I reached my hand out. “Hi, I’m Junicia. Franklin and I are…” I paused because I wasn’t sure what we were exactly. “We’re friends.”

My hand hung in the air since she acted like she couldn’t shake it. She looked at it like it disgusted her. That lady didn’t know a thing about me, and if it weren’t for her son, I would have cursed her fake, sadity ass out.

She focused on Franklin again, like I wasn’t sitting there. “I haven’t heard from you, dear. Why is that?”

“Because I’ve been busy.” He kept his eyes on his plate.

It was weird seeing him cower to his mother, especially after the way he handled Leo. He was like a totally different person.

“Hmph. Too busy for your mother?”

“I’ll give you a call later, Mother.”

“Make sure you do. I saw Aliana the other day, and she told me how much she misses you and wants to work things out.”

Franklin hadn’t said much about his ex, but I assumed that was who his mother was talking about. She was rude as hell saying that shit in front of me the way she did. Friends or not, that was something that should have been said when it was the two of them. I could already tell that if Franklin and I did take things further, thisladywould be a problem. I already knew she didn’t like me but didn’t know a thing about me.

“Mother, I said I’ll call you later. You’re being rude.”

On the inside, I smiled because I for sure wondered if he would say anything. I understood being respectful, but if he couldn’t or wouldn’t speak up for me to his mom, then we wouldn’t work. There would only be so much I would tolerate from her stiff wig ass.

Her eyes darted between Franklin and me. “Fine. Make sure you call me.” She gave me one last glance, then walked away.

I almost laughed at her kitten heels. She probably thought she was hot shit, but her outfit was terrible. No matter how much money a person had, if they didn’t have a sense of style, they still looked trashy.

“Sorry about that. My mother could be a bit?—”

“Rude,” I finished for him.

“Amongst other things. I hope her little interruption didn’t ruin our night.”
