I didn’t want to mention my parents because I didn’t like talking about them. As long as she didn’t ask, I wasn’t going to say anything. I didn’t necessarily hide my parents, but I wasn’t bragging about them either.
“How many kids do you want?”
“I honestly haven’t thought about a number, but maybe at least two. But really whatever my wife blesses with me. Do you want children?”
“I do. I am just glad I didn’t have one with my ex.”
I was glad she didn’t either because things could have turned out way worse than what they were. I kept it to myself though.
“Everything happens for a reason.”
“That’s what they say.”
Junicia yawned, and I had gotten sleepy myself. The rain had slowed down, so we probably were at the end of the storm.
“Maybe we should try and get some sleep,” I suggested when Junicia yawned again.
“Okay. Good night, Franklin.”
I thought she would have moved to the other side of the bed, but she didn’t, and I didn’t want her to.
“Good night, Junicia.” I kissed the top of her covered head and closed my eyes.
A few minutes later, Junicia’s light snores filled the room, but sleep didn’t find me too easily. It was hard falling asleep with her being so close. I knew she had just gotten out of a relationship, but I enjoyed her company. It had only been a few hours, but her being in my house made it feel like a home. It was a feeling I couldn’t explain, and I wouldn’t try to. I just knew I didn’t want to end.
Chapter
Eleven
Junicia
I wokeup slightly confused about where I was until I looked over and saw Franklin in a peaceful sleep next to me. It had to have been daytime, but it was hard to tell because it was still raining. I reached for my phone on the bedside table and noticed it was still early in the morning. That meant we were only sleeping for a few hours.
I had to use the bathroom, but I was scared to move. It wasn’t like I had to go far since it was one connected to the bedroom. I stayed in the same spot for a minute until my bladder said enough was enough. I gingerly slid out of the bed, careful not to wake Franklin.
When I got in the bathroom, I gently closed the door before I turned the light on. I didn’t know why I was surprised that the bathroom was clean considering the rest of the house was clean. It probably was because I knew how nasty men could be sometimes. I used to have to go behind Leo sometimes and clean up the pee he left behind like he didn’t know how to aim.
“Ugh.” I didn’t want to think of him and how stupid I was for staying with him longer than I should have. I hoped the police kept his ass there for a long time.
I used the bathroom, then washed my hands and turned the light off before opening the door. Franklin was still asleep, so I thought about going back to the guest bedroom, but the thunder halted that idea. I quickly got back in the bed and covered myself up. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep, so I had my back turned to Franklin and played a game on my phone. I tried not to jump every time I heard thunder.
How could the storm last so long?
I wondered if the lights had come back on because I hated to think that the food in my fridge had gone bad. It hadn’t been that long, so maybe it was still good. I was grateful that Franklin had a generator because I would have hated to be in his house with no heat, especially because I didn’t have the proper attire. My pajamas were warm, but not no-heat warm.
“You good?”
I jumped when Franklin’s sleepy voice broke through the silence.
“My bad.”
I didn’t turn around to face him because I was embarrassed. I jumped so much in the last twenty-four hours that this man probably thought I was childish.
“I’m okay. The storm seems like it doesn’t want to leave.”
“Did you get some sleep at all?”
I could feel him stretch behind me, but I was scared to move. He wore a T-shirt and boxers, and I knew most men woke up with a hard dick. I didn’t think I could handle it.
