“Then it wouldn’t be a surprise. You’ll see it soon enough. Get some rest.” I kissed her forehead and closed my eyes as she closed hers.

An hour later,we arrived at our destination, and I could see Junicia practically bouncing in her seat.

Her eyes lit up as I pulled into the parking lot.

“Hold on,” she said when she whipped her head toward me. “Franklin, today is the World Series. How are we here right now?”

“I got tickets. I know how much you like baseball, and there was no way I would let you miss this game, especially with it being so close to home.”

She leaped over the seat and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“Thank you, thank you.” She rained kisses all over my face and chuckled. “I love you.” Her eyes widened, and she sat back in her seat.

“Don’t look all surprised like you didn’t mean to say it.”

“I didn’t. I mean, I did, just not like that.”

I shut the car off, then turned to face her. I slid my finger under her chin and lifted it. “It doesn’t matter when or how you said it. What matters is that you said it, because I love you too.”

She leaped over the seat and got into my lap. She rested her forehead on mine and looked me in the eyes.

“You make me so happy, Franklin. I can’t believe we are at the World Series.” She squealed.

The happiness on her face was a look I would try to keep there forever. I hoped the other surprise I had would make her even happier.

“And you make me happy, Junie. Let’s get to our seats before the game starts.”

“Okay. Can we get some snacks?” she asked as she climbed back into the passenger seat.

“We can get whatever you want.” I got out of the car, then walked around to help her out.

The smile on her face couldn’t be contained as we walked to the gate.

I paid a lot of money for the seats we had and the added surprise. I couldn’t wait to see her face when it happened.

It wasthe bottom of the seventh inning, and the Stingers were winning. Junie was having the time of her life, and I was happy that I was able to provide that for her. She had all the snacks she desired and a few beers. I only had one since I had to drive us back home, but I wanted to make sure she enjoyed herself to the fullest.

There was a quick window of time before the next inning started, and I knew it was time.

The camera panned around the stadium until it landed on us.

“Look, Junie.” I pointed to the jumbotron because she wasn’t paying attention.

When she turned her head, I quickly got the box out of my pocket and got down on one knee.

She whipped back around and looked at me with her eyes wide. I grabbed her hand and held it.

“Junicia, these last few months have been the best months of my life. I know it’s quick, but I know I want to spend the restof my life seeing that beautiful ass smile on your face. Will you marry me?”

The whole stadium watched and waited for her answer. Tears streamed down her face as she screamed, “Yes!”

The entire stadium broke out in loud cheers. I placed the ring on her finger, then stood to kiss her.

People in our section congratulated us as the game resumed.

“I can’t believe you did all of this.” Junicia looked around in awe.

“I’ll do whatever I need to do to make you happy.”
