Jadis stood as Ros dragged Ellea out of the council chambers. She looked over her shoulder one last time and gave her nana a nod.

I’ll check in with her, Bug, Billy said telepathically.

Ellea shivered as they stepped out into the evening, more from the stress than the chill. She was thankful her dress had longer sleeves, but the slit up the side had her second-guessing her choice of clothes.

Billy and I will talk with Jadis. Why don’t the two of you eat and we will meet up tonight? Garm suggested.

“Yes, I’m starved,” Ellea said, snuggling closer to Ros for warmth. “I know our princeling is now opposed to walking, but it will only take a moment.”

Billy chuffed a laugh, and the two beasts walked back into the building.

“Come on, princess. Show me what you city folk like to eat.”

Ellea

Fuck.

Ellea stopped before they reached the restaurant that had one small group of people standing near the hostess stand.

“They look busy,” she said, trying to tug Ros away. “Let’s try a different place.”

“What? There are plenty of tables,” he said, cocking his brow as she tried to continue to move his large body.

An excited voice called from the restaurant. “Ellea?”

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

Ros stiffened next to her and turned to glare at the tan and tattooed witch that broke away from the crowd.

“Please don’t kill him,” Ellea grumbled up at Ros. “Luke!”

It came out like more of a screech than she’d hoped. She continued to hold on to Ros’ arm as Luke stepped in to kiss her on the cheek.

“Ellea, oh my Gods, I heard you got kidnapped by demons or something.” He grasped her by the shoulders and took in every inch before realizing she was connected to a very large and angry demon.

“Silly rumors.” She batted him away. “But this is Rosier. Ros, this is Luke.”

She gestured to the both of them, but Ros stood still, glaring at Luke. Ellea could have sworn there were embers behind his dark eyes.

Luke’s mouth had popped open as he was openly taking in Ros. He glanced over his shoulder quickly before whispering, “Is there a sign-up form?”

“What?” both Ros and Ellea asked together.

“To get kidnapped by demons.” His smile was all warmth, spreading across his handsome face.

“Ha, funny.” She tugged on Ros again. “Well, it was good seeing you, we will be going.”

“Going?” Ros tugged her close to his side, placing a kiss on the top of her head. “Princess, I’m famished, let’s go here.”

Ellea glanced behind Luke to see Aiden gawking and Isaac with a glare harsh enough to match Ros’.

“Cool!” Luke said, oblivious to her suffering. “The guys will be happy to see you and meet your new beau.”

Ros took a step toward Luke as he turned. His skin practically vibrated, and the tattoo poking above his collar seemed to darken menacingly, but Ellea held him back.

“Please don’t kill them,” she mumbled under her breath.
