“Yes?” I answer, looking at him.

“Do you want me to do it now or later, Thorin?” he asks.

“Now is fine,” he grumbles.

Aiden walks over to me and sets his medical bag on the coffee table before kneeling.

“How are you feeling?Reallyfeeling.” Aiden starts to take some of my vitals.

I sigh. “I feel fine,” I whisper. “I feel like I am withering away on the couch or in bed, not able to do anything. I want to walk around a little, stretch my legs. I don’t want to do a lot since I know I am still healing, but I want to do something.”

Silence fills the room, and I cringe.

“She’s a little cranky. Hasn’t been sleeping well,” Daddy informs Aiden.

I look at him with my mouth open. “Wh-what?!” I raise my voice. “I have not been cranky… Okay, maybe I have been a little cranky, but it’s because I want to get up. I want to walk around a little and move freely.”

“And I said I don’t want you to hurt yourself,” Daddy replies.

“But I don’t. Not if you are there. I’ll only walk around when you are home so you can be right next to me,” I point out, practically begging him.

“No.”

I sigh, looking down at my hands as tears form in my eyes. I know he’s worried about me. I’m not going to get injured, though, especially if he is there with me.

“Thorin, can I talk to you for a couple of seconds?” Aiden asks, getting up from where he is sitting.

I blink back my tears as they walk to the other side of the room. Aiden starts talking, but I can’t hear anything. What are they talking about? It’s about me, no doubt. What if Aiden found something wrong with my vital?

“Little One,” Daddy calls out.

I focus on him to see concern written all over his face.

“Breathe, Little One. You’re okay,” he gently says. “Daddy will be right back in a second.”

I look at Juniper as Daddy talks to Aiden. I want to get up and listen, but I know once I stand up, all hell is going to break loose.

Before I know it, Daddy is next to me as Aiden kneels in front of me.

“I want you to listen to me closely,” Aiden begins. “Can you do that?”

I look up and nod my head. “Got my listening ears on.” I cup my hands behind my ears.

“Fucking adorable,” Daddy whispers.

I grin up at him before turning back to Aiden, waiting for him to talk.

“You can walk around a little, but only when Daddy is around. While you might feel better, your body might not be ready to move so much. You are to take it easy and only walk no more than thirty minutes twice a day,” Aiden says. “You are going to be tired after the first time, so listen to your bodyandlisten to your Daddy.”

I nod, a smile spreading across my face.

“If you get too tired, I want you to lie down and take a nap. Your body is still healing from giving birth and driving for hours soon after.” Aiden gives me a pointed look.

“Promise I’ll only walk with Daddy by my side and only twice a day for five minutes,” I reply. “Will it increase as I show I’m okay?”

Aiden chuckles. “We’ll see how this week goes, and then we’ll reevaluate. Sound good?”

I nod. “Thank you.”
